Title: Looking for pacific war US landings analysis
Post by: cdm on April 12, 2016, 02:04:45 PM
I was reading some US documents on interviews with soldiers shortly after the battle of the bulge, and I was wondering if anyone has come across any online reproductions of interviews with troops after the various pacific wars landings, or if the navy or marines did after battle detailed analysis of the landings to reconsider tactics, weapons, the viability of the japanese defences etc. I'm trying to get some sort of technical reading on say what naval guns turned out to be less successful, which shone, flaws and pluses of aircraft, tanks, the different craft, what confusion occured among the troops and how the plans had to change on ground and some personal stories to get an eye on the ground feel for what occured etc. Not yet ready to game any of it, but it's an aspect that I find very fascinating and I'd like to know more.

There's a lot out there on analysis of naval battles, where the Japanese gave their accounts of engagements to the Americans. I'm sure (wild speculation) they navy at least did the same for landings.
