Hi,
I'm currently planning to create my first dedicated lion rampant armies, I first thought about making them in the perry plastic ranges, wich are great looking, but I prefer metal figures.
Is there a cheap 25-28mm metal range for medieval thematic to plastic figures ?
thanks
ps : I could buy 10, 15 or 20mm metal figures, but I want to make my setup in 25-28mm range. To be honest, since i will have to create scenery for these, I thought that I would also offer a specific terrain range, and the market majority seems to be 25-28mm scale.

Perry make metal HYW and WOTRs figs, and claymore casting is a good fit size wise.

I don't own any myself but I think Black Tree Designs are fairly cheap, especially when they go on sale.

Black Tree Design are a good bet and they do everything from Dark Ages thru to Late HYW, so a good spread of poses and armour types... These are almost entirely BTD late 1100s early 1200s Feudal types acting as proxy Gondorians. Don't forget, Men At Arms usually had older kit than the Knights, so you can use a wide spread of armour types. Also older armour styles often persisted on the 'edges'of Europe....

Front Rank's Medieaval's are at the cheaper end of the spectrum at £1.20 each.

They mix well with the old (5th edition) GW Bretonnian figures. The metal GW are pricey, but the old plastic single pose archers can be had for buttons.

Another vote for BlackTree here. Good workman like figures, exceptional value for money, especially during the very common flash sales they run.

LAF member selling a bunch of Medievals (including some Blacktree), easily enough to get you started.

thank you all, I'll take a look !

They tend to tie their flash sales to historical events and anniversaries e.g. their recent 'Ides of March' Roman sale, so expect an 'Agincourt Day' related FS around the 25th October! ....

If you want inexpensive 13th century 28mm figs, look at Old Glory. Their crusades range have knights to cover the mounted and the Mongol Invasion range have great 13th century western infantry. With the Old Glory army card you get a substantial additional discount.

I'll second that. Not announced, but Old Glory UK usually offer a "6 packs for 5" discount. I must say though that unless your extremely fast, your income will come faster than the painted figures ;)

Don't forget to look on ebay and also at Colonel Bill's for second hand figs -- my HYW armies were rounded out by knights from there.
