Hi Guys,
I'm new here and I have to post something to keep the account open. So I thought I would show you what I have been working on.
It is a watertank for the Old West. Ultimately it is for a a train robbery scenario I'm working on.
Tell me what you think.
Just have to get the darn thing painted now.

Welcome to the Forum
I really like this piece of work!! :-* :-*
Were they really that tall?
Looks a really useful addition to a games setup. Make sure you post a picture of it painted....
What wood did you use? is it all Balsa?

Hello,
Thanks for the welcome.
The tower was built to go with Britiannia Miniatures, which are larger than your standard 28mm figure. More like 30mm. I was hoping to use it in some other periods as well eg, Russian water tower along the Moscow-Berlin railway during WWII at a rural servicing point.
The figure in the picture is a 28mm US Para Trooper from Black Tree Designs.
I used balsa for the entire construction. The tank was made out of a plastic jar that I cut the top off using a knife. I then stuck balsa wood strips to the jar to give it the right wood appearance. Once the wood was dry, I put in a cardboard top to the tank and textured with glue for water.

I love to see properly scratchbuilt stuff like this.
Can't wait to see the painted product. :)
Next time, take some step by step pics as you go, so we can all copy your excellent design! ;)
Also, I don't think I've ever see a McDonalds straw put to such good use before! lol lol
