I've been wantng to paint these Fenris deep ones since they first came out a few years ago. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be selling the full range of them nowadays. There were several I couldn't see on their website. Anyway, the LPL's 'creatures' themed round gave me a great opportunity :)

Astute observers of LPL matters may have recognised my German harbour side from an earlier LPL, now re-purposed for Innsmouth :)
The signs are just made up in PowerPoint, (or in the case of the old advertising posters, found on the web), printed out, and then painted and weathered by hand.

Top job but I particularly like the big red and green one, very prehistoric :-* :-*

That's wonderful! This is the reason why we game!
I love the brickwork, does it come in a sheet?
-
Yes, it's pressed Styrofoam board... Not sure you can get it any more. Good stuff :)

The wall is Wills injection moulded styrene and is readily available from most good hobby suppliers :)

Excellent. Fishy-types, IMHO best painted versions I've seen since the original display set. (Think "Duff" painted those.)
-
Thanks Malcolm. Yes, Duff worked his magic on the original set. I'm afraid mine aren't quite up to his standard. Those were real works of art :)
-
Superb, Richard!
-
Bloody gorgeous!
:-* :-*
But.....Cthulhu!?!?
From you...???
:o o_o ;)
-
I refer my learned friend to one of my LPL entries from about 8 years ago!
I can do Cthulhu ;)

Oh yeah, I remember that one, Season One :-* Still bloody nice, Richard!
But the Innsmouth one is yet better, probably your best in this season, Richard and I'm glad I didn't have to encounter this one 8)

Blimey, Guvnor!
:o :o :o
So, there is a history of Occult activity in your murky past, Captain.
What other secrets lurk in the early years of the LPL??
>:D >:D
As for my ignorance: In my defence, I am far too young to know anything about something that happened so long ago.
:D
-
Haha!
Many dark secrets Paolo ;)
Thanks Alex, but I don't think any of my team would have got the better of yours in this LPL :)

What a great board and very scary creatures....brilliant painting all around.
Great work...;)
Cheers,
Don

This thread is filled with gorgeous eye candy and mind crippling gribblies.

Great stuff.
Who makes the boat?
-
Very lovely paint and concept !!
Who makes that very nice launch, please??

It’s a Quaycraft 1/48 Scale 20ft motor cutter with clinker hull and transom stern, from www.model-dockyard.com (Price GBP 15.80 + VAT).
Quaycraft produce a huge range of ships’ boats in every scale from 1/192 to 1/24 and across many periods. They're highly detailed and beautifully produced resin models with brass fittings, and not much more expensive than equivalent wargames models. (Except similar wargames products tend to be pretty poor quality in comparison ::)).
These are beautiful scale models designed for serious model ship enthusiasts. To this end, they are complete, not waterline models. So you have to sand the bottom down if you want to use them on the tabletop – which is what I’ve done with this one, although it seemed a crying shame to sand away so much wonderful detail… I’ve also left out the very nice inboard seating in favour of the practicalities of standing figures up inside the craft.
Model Dockyard by the way, stock a whole load of different ranges of scale ships, boats, fittings and accessories (I got the lifebelt from there too) and were extremely pleasant to deal with. And quick.

Now that IS a top tip-off.

Thank you, Cap'n!
:D

Actually, I just cut and pasted that from my LPL6 entry from 2012, so not sure if they're even still there. But probably it's much the same...
-
I've been following your GoT project but didn't know you dabbled in unspeakable stuff like this. Really sweet models all around and the boat is beautiful. The cheesed line on the bow when it was for your Germans was a nice touch; Why did you take it away?

It reappeared on the quayside for one of the Deep ones to ponder in my recent LPL10 entry :)
-
Missed this, fantastic painting.
Where did you get the brilliant signs from?
-
The notices I made up in Word.
The old ads - just did a Google image search for 'old New England advertising signs'... :)
Cut and pasted a few of the signs I found into a Powerpoint slide, printed them out on matt photo paper, cut them out, tore them up a bit, stuck them to the wall and weathered them using washes.

Something fishy going on here..............
-
Always beautiful work!
-
That scenery is fabulous as is the miniatures! Love the pushpin capstan! Are these for gaming or show?
-
Thanks. Just for the LPL, although if I get a chance to include them in a game, I will.
:)
-
That looks amazing!

Amazing deep ones and fisherman superb paint jobs. I've been to a few places like Innsmouth in Britain, I better not say where they were. lol
