I'm still getting to grips with the rules but I would suggest a unit strength of ten for the conscripts :)
cheers
James

I will change to 10, not sure how this affects the points value though,
do i need to include for ashigaru/samurai armed with muskets/matchlocks
also, mentioned on the tfl forum, samurai/ shinsengumi get the tomahawk characteristic as in the french indian war list
-
I think including the samurai/ashigaru is a good call and possibly units of 12 for the ashigaru and eight for the samurai.
cheers

cheers james,
with the Samurai as clan and ashigaru as wallahs, they all get 12 in the rule book, but i know you can adjust the amount.
with less figures they would be quicker to reach excess shock, this would mean trying to be a bit more careful with them.
with the movemable dp they can get closer to the enemy though and protect them from long distance firing, lots to think about.
I will look into putting the list into an excell document and link it here

Changes made to size of Samurai unit (8), new recruits Imperials(10).
Added Tomahawk to Samurai, mtd samurai and Shinsengumi

I'm working in this, but at the moment can say a few things:
Numerical superiority of the Shogun army was due to the traditional troops (samurai, ashigaru) of loyal clans to Bakufu Tokugawa, so I suggest that only are used by Shogun's side.
I would put the special rule "emperors standard" on a scenario, but dont as a general rule.
-
Thanks Jose, did think about limiting the samurai/ashigaru to bakufu . Will do it if no one else can give me a good reason not to. Scenario based on the emperors standard would be good. Will check the points values later in week. Any other suggestions welcome.
If we can get this done then we can move onto doing a British/combined western invasion list
-
I will sent you the list with a few modifications, but I think that we need work more on the army list.
I would like to see Gakuheitai & Denshutai as regulars. :)
-
Maybe option as light infantry in line as well as skirmishers. Was the shinsengumi better than samurai. Might be worth sending to James and getting a third opinion, the lists are looking good. I have a game in a couple of weeks and will give the list a go
-
Shinsengumi were an elite corps accustomed to fight on the streets of kioto, samurai very long time of peace without fight

This is pretty cool, was this list ever sent on to TooFatLardies?
