Title: Any armed roman civilians in 15mm?
Post by: rumacara on May 23, 2016, 11:23:52 AM
Like the tittle says is there any 15mm manufacturer who sells the following?

Armed roman civilians
Unarmed roman civilians
Gladiators

I want several for a small 15mm Project.
I´ve seen some in Xyston that might work but i need more variety.

I´m opened to sugestions in 20mm but only in metal.

Cheers

Rui

War & Empire have some great miniatures.

Link to Roman, Greek, and Gallic villagers and some Roman engineers:

Major Tom and Meninobesta, thanks for the links. :)

The War & Empire have great miniatures, although packs of 24 arent the best for me. I dont want a army of armed and unarmed citizens. Nevertheless 1 or 2 may end at my home. :D

Pedro, i compleetly forgot that page and IrregularWars is the author of Song of Shadows and Dust (also a LAF member).

Any other manufacturer is welcome.

Send a nice email to Andy & Wendy at West Wind and they might be able to sort you out something personalised from the War & Empire range. They are usually friendly and helpful (unless they are up to their ears in something).
The War & Empire figures are very nice.

Museum Miniatures have gladiators and also have captives etc.

But theirs are in packs of 8 figures (single pose) or a mixed set of 24.

If you are still looking, you could try Mirlton, here:
http://www.mirliton.it/product_info.php?pName=hordes-5-variants&cName=historical-15mm-etruscan-600280-bc

They're listed under Etruscans and their tunics are short, but they're pretty generic and "Mediterranean." I had picked some up for mobs to add to my later Thracian and Illyrian army lists and they fit right in.

Richard, those might work and they seem easy to convert.
Many thanks.

So far...

Those are nice. Great work on the cloaks! I was recently debating trying my hand at sculpting cloaks. I'm in the process of converting (actually not a lot to convert) some old 28mm War-games Factory unarmored dark age warriors into Late Roman sailors for my Ripenses project. Seemed they need cloaks but then I decided, naaaaw, they're okay. Some of the bare heads I did cut in half to green-stuff the wide brimmed hats they're known to wear but I've yet to get to them.

I like how you did those cloaks above, though

Thanks Richard
May i invite you to check theae two threads for some ideas of both sculping/converting some romans?

They are about roman street gangs but you get lots of ideas for your Project.
Also check Black Tree Design late romans. Lots of usefull miniatures and they mix well with Footsore.

Wow, those guys look mean. Really, really good job on the conversions! I have most of the BTD late Romans, I do like their figures and I'm about to purchase another 20-figure Ordines for my my last Comentenses since they're running a sale right now of four pounds a pack.

I got off my butt and did the green-stuff hats for the sailors. I'd say passable for my first go at sculpting... good thing they're floppy hats, if you know what I mean, they turned out waaaaay too mushy if I were trying to sculpt helmets.
