Title: Underberg-Uralt Garrison Troops, an Accidental Army
Post by: Lardy Rich on May 28, 2016, 09:31:53 AM
Morning all.

Somehow I have accidentally amassed a new Sharp Practice Army made up of Garrison troops for one of my Imagi-Nations, Prussia's ally the Margrave of Underberg-Uralt.  I originally was planning to just paint up a few figures to act as the local Old Bill, but like so many projects it go out of hand.  Anyway, I think it will be an interesting, and challenging, force to play with.

You can read about it on Lard Island News here:  http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=5870

And here are a couple of snaps, as usual.  Please excuse the movement trays which are not complete.  Also, if anyone can suggest any suitably sedentary units to add to the Force Roster I'd be very interested.

Rich

Eagle miniatures make some marching 18thc  European militia/civilians which could be a local defence force. I have slipped into the Imagination realm too, but I prefer to think of it as an alternate reality, a sort of something that went on or could be going on in another dimension.  o_o

Red, thanks for the tip on Eagle.  I've not come across them before, but looking at their web site they have some interesting stuff.  How do they compare in size and looks to Foundry or Crusader?

Honest answer is i dont know. I have not got round to buying any yet I have been painting regulars but had them in mind for later. I have heard they are big 28s. Black Hussar has some really nice stuff too I have some of their figures and they fit with foundry/Perry they have some good stuff for the deployment markers.

Foundry used to have some road workers but I can't find them in their current catalogue. I was planning to add them in as support options/train defence guard or in fact, even in fact, Engineers.

Poitier

I found the road menders pack when I went up to the Foundry a couple of weeks ago.  I painted mine up with a couple of Black Hussar figures which you can see here:

The Foundry ones are the bloke with the wheelbarrow, the kneeling chap, the bloke having a smoke leaning on his shovel and the chap in the middle standing with his pick.

What I do to turn them in to Engineers is add a couple of pioneers or sappers, like this:

Like you, I can't find them on the web site, but they do have them in stock.

Ta for the pics, Chief Lardiste, I shall look for some other figs to add to mine.

For my deployment points, I am using mostly Eureka figures such as the Hussar chatting up the wench getting water from the trough and the chaperone (can't find that on the site), the Sword sharpener and the Baking party set.
