Title: Opinion
Post by: gefreiter on June 27, 2016, 11:11:38 AM
So, i posted already for info for the ECW.
Have a budget of 100£, 3 possibilities: ECW-WOR-HYW.
100% plastic, so Warlord plastic or Perry plastic, sculpting quality?

I think Perry War of the Roses has the widest range in plastic and the best sculpts.

They can also be used for Swiss-Burgundy or the early part of the Italian Wars.

For my money you couldn't go far wrong by going with Perry. They have the widest appeal, are fab on quality and detail and make up into great figures, even by a klutz like me...
Check out the plastic-maesters like Captain Blood and their Medieval threads for a rollercoaster ride of just what is achievable with the Perry ranges...

If i would go for the HYW, do i need historical cavalry?
I want to play large skirmish and solo, with war of the roses i have cavalry with the perry.
With 5 boxes of HYW i though to do 3 small forces, french-english and free company? Could i use the free company in both french and english armies if i would use them as 2 forces for bigger scenario's?

If you are doing HYW French and English, you do not need any cavalry for the English because they usually fought on foot.

If you are using Lion Rampant, then you would need about 12 mounted knights and possibly 6 mounted sergeants for the French.
This could easily be done in metal.

Perry are planning plastic Agincourt Mounted Knights but you will have to wait at least a year.
You could use the plastic WOTR Mounted MAA as they are, or better still, convert them by using torsos and helmets from the Agincourt Foot Knights.

Perry...great sculpts...And WOTR. That way you can have firearms and cannons ala ECW but still have longbows and swords from the HYW. Get a mix of mercenaries, knights, foot soldiers and mounted light horsemen...

Depending on how much of a stickler you are for exact height and proportion matching within a project, there are a lot of other suitable plastic medieval kits that can be mixed with the Perry's, which may be a point in their favor if you like converting and modelling.

In my opinion, the Perry  plastic kits have better detail. For variety of troops I would pick WoTR. For 100 GBP  you can get 5 boxes of plastics which would give you lots of options and a ton of minis for mixing and matching Lion Rampant retinues.

Is it cheaper from Warlord than from Perry directly? I'm in the states and Perry are up there with Hasslefree and Heresy in terms of excellent customer service and shipping time/cost.

Warlord sells the perry boxes at the same price but from 50£ there is free shipping and with the perry's not.
I'm from Belgium.
