Hi everybody!
In these months I'm helping a friend of mine to develop an home-made skirmish sci-fi ruleset... for the playtest I decided to assemble some models and scenery, which I would like to share with you here on LAF.
I decided to begin with two gangs (why to go for just one when, with double work and double time, you can have two? ;D). For the first one I decided to have an Inq28 flavor, while the second one will be more Necromundish... The main reason is because I always loved the background of these two games (and played Necromunda a lot, back in the days! :-*), and I would like to have models I could one day use also with these rulesets.
So... let's start!
Let me introduce you to the first three models, the core of my Inquisitor's retinue:
First: Yanez, former Imperial Guard who almost died during an assault on an unnamed outer world. He lost is right arm and had his lungs infected by a xenofungus that allows him to breath poisonous gas with no harm... the problem is that if the xenofungus doesn't have poison gas to feed on, will start to consume Yanez from inside! So this guy is forced to carry around this biohazard respirator (inquisitor approved! lol)... With his loyal heavy stubber he is the group heavy support....
-
Ozymandias. An alien entity in the retinue of my Ordo Xeno Inquisitor... he speaks the word of the Inquisition through the speaker staff. He sees the past and the future with his third eye. He (probably) can read your mind and influence your will...
-
This is the third model of the Inq retinue, yet to be named. Heavy melee oriented, he's definitely not the brain of the group lol...
-
Love the look of ozzy, but I think you should remove the kroot pistol form his back. Other then that he is a great design!
-
Thank you, YPU
I agree the gun is not perfect, but he needed a weapon for the "what you see..." principle... and I think the kroot pistol has a "retro" style it could fit the mood...
-
For the other gang, the Necromunda's style one, I started with a big guy from scibor miniatures (I love this model! :))
The theme of the gang is based on a novel I read about the (supposed) tatoo culture in the past russian criminal society... I really enjoied the book, and I would like to recreate the "old style soviet criminal" flavour
So, here comes the brute (yet to be named...)
-
Wow, those are some excellent conversions. :-* Looking forward to more. :)
-
wow loving this stuff ! maximum originality and flavour !!
-
Great stuff :D
cheers
James
-
Love the big fella with the sixgun!
-
That Ogryn is just brilliantly done! Bravo!
-
Wow, those are some pretty ace figures.
-
Love the prison tattoos on that Ogryn!
-
Thank you all for the kind words! :)
I agree with you the ogre is a great model and, with all that bare skin, was perfect for the "criminal tatto style" I was looking for... lol
Now the task is to tatoo the true 28 mm models for the rest of the gang o_o
By the way... Any suggestion for the big guy name? Or the gang name? I'm looking for some inspiration...
In the meantime I prepared the ogre's base (40 mm) and primed a couple of (good)fellas lol
-
Wow, some serious work here! :-*
I love Ozymandias too, maybe my favourite form the batch. Cool sculpt. Those tatoos on the Ogryn are really something too!
-
Here is a complete ogre pic... :)
-
And a couple of bad attitude guys joined the gang :D
First: slim boy... the marksman ;)
-
And then...
Fatboy!
I tried some religious theme tattoo on him... don't know if I managed to make them intelligible and if I catch the feeling, but I'm quite satisfied with the result... :) Let me know what you think!
Ps: I wanted some cyberpunk feeling so: orange bazooka! lol
-
Some group shots...
-
Looks awesome
Really like the tats
-
What a gang! :o
-
I very much like the tattoos - how have you done them? Just watered down blue? Blue mixed with flesh?
-
Hi!
Riding my inspiration, here is another gang member...
Looks like he just escape from jail, still wearing detention cloth...
I wonder why was he confined... he looks such a nice person! lol
@ axiom: thank you! For the tatoos I use a mix of watered dark blue + black (2:1) and, after letting it dry, one or more washes of heavily watered flesh tone, more for older tatoos...
-
Awesome stuff man! Love your weathering and custom bases. Really nice. The Ogryn is a class apart :-*
For tattoos you can also use P3 Coal Black...a dark blue/black. Excellent colour for tattoos!
-
Thank you Malebolgia!
I will look for that color... having it ready would be better than mixing it every time :)
-
I like your fat boy. The trenchcoat gangers are lovely models. Shame they're so expensive.
-
Thank you, MagpieJono!
I really love heresy's models. Yes, they are a little expensive, but I check regularly their site because from time to time there is a discount... I bought the whole trenchcoat set with a -20%; the models also came with a ton of weapon sprues for free so... not too bad! :D
Also... they are top quality!
-
Lovely work, the weathering on the metals is great. I think your enjoyment making these comes through bigtime !!
-
Thanks for the tattoo tips - I'll give it a go :)
-
Really cool gangers Maxx, and I'm quite looking forward to see Ozymandias painted up.
-
Hi to all!
Some news...
Ozzy and brother chainsaw finally painted! Not my paintjob.. Since I don't have too much time I asked a good friend of mine, Faber here on LAF, to paint them. I think he did a GREAT job! :-*
-
one more... ;)
-
Very good, both painting and conversions 8)
cheers
James
-
but I wasn't leazy at all...
I worked on some linear obstacles... using some bitz I had around...
Rusty, as always :D
-
Thank you jimbibbly!
I'm happy you like them :D
more to come!
-
And the first of the objective markers...
From the sedition wars terrain set: a power generator (or something like that... ;))
-
Great terrain as well 8) 8)
cheers
James
-
Your terrain is wonderful.
-
Another great tread: must follow! Great work on these scenery!
-
Fantastic thread! Subscribed!
-
This keeps getting better and better. I really like your Greenstuff work on Ozzy.
-
Great stuff! The base on that generator is amazing!
-
Amazing paintjobs and conversions!
A really inspiring thread.
-
Hi everybody!
I have some small news...
First, I played with some jersey barriers: two with yellow-black stripe pattern, and heavy weathering...
-
... and three with graffiti! :D
I'm pretty pleased with these. In one of my previous lifes I've been what now is called street artist (back in time I was just a vandal... o_o), and these are a tribute to my old crew ;)
front view.
-
... and back, with some random decals for decoration :)
-
and another objective marker: computer station.
This also from the sedition war scenery pack
-
Hi!
I have another small update...
This time is a WIP of my Inquisitor and of a mutant sniper. The second one could be part of an ordo xenos Inquisitor warband, or of an all-mutant gang... only time (and inspiration :D) will tell!
I'm pretty happy with the sniper rifle, but I'm not totally sure about Inquisitor's gun. Maybe it is too large and I should go for something smaller.. Any suggestion?
Comment and critics, as always, are wellcome!
-
Great stuff 8)
cheers
James
-
Really good work. I notice the inquisitor has a 7 pointed star on his belt. Is he flirting with heresy...
Very cool.

Hey Maxx,
I like the Inquisitor and the sniper. Your asking about the =][='s gun. If your looking to have it as a carbine of some kind i say it is a good size. If you was looking for a kind of pistol or SMG then i can see it is a bit too long. But i dont think that is what you were going for.
The sniper's rifle though i have a small issue on, the scope. Seems to sit too far back on top of the gun. Seems the sniper wont be able to settle into the butt and ease up tot he scope. It just looks like it sits back too far.
But i think both figs are top notch.

Very cool.
I dont think you can see the eighth point in the pic. No heresy here. Move along. :-)

I love the conversion work on the various figures. Those cultists figures are useful for so many things. I do think the sniper rifle and scope is oversized, but that is my personal taste. The paint jobs on the sedition wars terrain is lovely. Keep the miniatures coming. :D

-
You don't want a 260x scope on your rifle? lol
-
Great stuff 8)
cheers
James
Thank you James :)

Probably it is a souvenir from the last heretic he met ;)

Thank you Grimm for your comments :)
I think you're right, and at the end I will change the Inq gun into something smaller... I was looking for an "alien" look for his weapon, since he belongs to the ordo xenos... maybe I'll try with an eldar gun... ???
@Grimmnar & Audrey
Yeah... probably the sniper rifle and the scope are oversized, but you... size matters! lol
@ Elbows
lol
And now... some news!!
First: a small servoskull... It is based on a small custom servoskull I bought on ebay + some personal moddings...
-
And then... a real classic scum!
I think the Heresy gun suits better than the original plasma... :)
-
Hi lead adventurers!
Some new stuff right from the workbench! :D
Body from sedition wars miniature, head and machine-gun bits from GW, mech-claw from Zinge industries. And custom base, as always :)
-
Good converson
-
More awesome stuff dude :)
-
Woah that's a nice one!
-
Loving that suit.
-
Inspiring work dude! Love the Scum and that Loader looks great, reminds me of a movie I saw once...
-
Outstanding project..
Both building and painting wise. :o
-
Great job on the walker. I also really like the gun change on the scum. I've got that figure kicking around and you're giving me ideas!
-
Excellent!
-
Hey, I had missed your recent stuff and all of it is top notch! Quite inspiring work, I must say. Thumbs up!!
-
Thank you all for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoy my stuff :)
This project really catch me :D
So here are some news:
First you see a building made of plastic sprue, cardboard and some scrap bits I had around... I really enjoied building and painting it, and I think I'll do more of these to create a small scrap-town table, something like "district 9" :D
Then you see the last conversion for my inquisitor retinue: mantic ghoul head, body&arms&weapons from GW and victoria miniatures for the legs...
-
Hi!
Today I have another small project update :)
First: shanty town is growing, with the second building almost finished (still missing small paint on the "doors")....
And another models line up on the painting desk, this time an arcoflagellant for the Inqisitor retinue (sorry for the poor pics :()
Stay tuned for more! ;)
-
Awesome work. Loving the shanty town. Your figure conversions are insane. lol
-
That's so cool! :o I'm so stealing your 'Skitarii uzi' concept!
-
Some inspiring conversions and painting in this thread - thanks for sharing.
-
Again, thank you all for your support! :)
Here is another small update: a new member of my Inqisitor retinue...
Converting these models is becoming like a drug! I can't stop! o_o lol
-
Nice kitbashing! Don't worry, I think I can talk on behalf of all of us and we don't have any problem having you hooked on this ;D
-
This guy is glorious! Really captures the elaborate oddness of the 40 k world.
-
That is one popping hat. :-*
-
The project is slowly proceeding... here are a couples of updates!
No conversion today, but some paint on a couple of Heresy Miniatures for my IX necromundish gang and following pics of a servitor for my Inquisitor retinue (Warmachine cryx model)... :)
First: gangers
-
Second: servitor
:)
-
Pretty cool
-
Whoa, just found this thread. Great work!
Love all your painting, especially the terrain and bases. And your conversions too!
-
Again, thank you all for your kind words! :)
Today, some paint right from the workbench...
I hope you'll enjoy :D
-
Another mini painted! :D
This time it's my inquisitor... as you can notice, I chenged a little the conversione I posted some time ago, since I wasn't really happy with the previous gun...
Also, I tried this power sword effect for the first time, and I'm pretty pleased with the result!
-
Looks pretty cool to me
-
Thank you, commissar! :)
-
Love the power sword, also the cammo paints on the gunslinger (who is a great figure all round, by the way).
-
Cracking work 8) 8) 8)
cheers
James
