A superb start to a new club. I'm going off now to sort through the unpainted pile of minis.
That's a 3-up ;D

Great miniature, great painting, Alex! Is this a single personallity figure or part of a range?
Excellent paintjob and a great flag 8)Thanks. :)

24. Svenn Tronn. German adventurer of nordic heritage.
Interesting figure, I'm guessing West Wind by the style?
No.26 (Ironclad Miniatures) Chinese Warlord
I really like the way you did the flowers on the robe.Outstanding!
What a great thread. Plenty of fantastic work in what for many of us was the genre we came together here originally, I had to get in on this one.

Top notch work, gents, amazing paintwork on the Prof, Matt, especially on the face, very resolute :-*
Finally something new from me too. And it's not by Copplestone :D
#019 Defender of the Manor (Studio Siberia)

Some more lovely entries, but I think the numbering has gone awry?
Argonor's entry was #35, so I think Romark should be #36 and Orctrader #37?
I've been looking at picking this set up can you tell me if the scale with Copplestone's miniatures?
#38 Xiang Lung - Chinese Villain and his pet monkey (or baby Yeti?)
#38 Xiang Lung - Chinese Villain and his pet monkey (or baby Yeti?)
#39 Chinese General (Pulp)
Wow, Steve, these are fabulous :-* :-*
Top job Reaperman :-*
#46 (Crucible Crush - ex-Pulp Figures) Chinese Student Militia
Still great entries and its good that the painting club moves slowly....Gives me time to finnish my stuff. :)
Great flag Paul. I never knew you could write in Mandarin ;)It's all Chinese to me :D
Altgogether now: 'Oooh-oooh, we're halfway there... Ooo-oooh, living on a- '80's poodle rock? I had you down as more of a New Romantic. ;)
Looks like you two are going to have to finish this club single-handedly! ;)
#61 Chinese Official (Ral Partha)
Great touch on those glasses. Care to share how you achieved it?
#62 Colonel Dallimore of the Indian Army (Copplestone)LOL I like that one...
Photo isn't great. I had to buy a new lamp and am practising.
Love the paint on that Paint!
Great is the Turkman hat greenstuff?
It's my attempt at a flea-bitten roan.
...Alabama Smith, Oregon Ford, or North Dakota Johnson...the Professor of Archaeology on one of his many field trips to the Back of Beyond...
Reaper Miniatures -Bones Chronoscope 80033 "Frank Buck".
The princess is lovely but I really like the stupa!

18. Professor WitchheimerI really like that!

Nice work on the Dragon Lady.
What does the armband signify?
What does the armband signify?
Is that not the 'emergency' yellow flag.
The signal for 'Run away!'?
;)
You may be correct. To me it is just a bit of flair. Apparently it works since people are talking about it. :)
# 67 Sikh semaphore signalist

GWM with Woodbine head
Just the sort of mini that helps making a gaming table come to life! 8)
I have a tendency to focus on actual combatants and pivotal character models, neglecting all the 'trimmings' (probably because I spread myself far too thin over fart too many settings/games ::) ), and often find myself pretty jealous of those of you who have the stamina/energy/patience to stay with a single setting/project over a long period, and really care about all the little details.
It is fun painting them for a while, if you do it the right way, but the horses is a hell of tedium.
As for patience. What is really the hurry, if you think about it? It's a hobby.
Lovely work Peder. Patience is a requirement if you enjoy the hobby.
63. Mountaineer (Pulp)
Having started a new project, here is an explorer ready to head into the Himalayas or the Arctic wastes:

Please excuse the crappy photo, but my phone camera did not like the crappy light.
My goodness, it actually looks like him ;) lol
#70 Pasha Moustasha AliGlad to see that guy pop in here, I was thinking about painting him for this myself!

That is really interesting! I wasn't aware of that ethnic group.
That is really interesting! I wasn't aware of that ethnic group.
In English we call their region Lapland, and some people think that's where Santa Claus lives (in fact they run Christmas short breaks to take your kids there to meet him).
I don't believe in Santa Claus. I'm strictly a Father Christmas kind of chap. Before the sentimental Victorians merged him with Santa and made him all about giving presents to snot-nosed kids, he was the English god of getting shit-faced at Christmas. :)
The huskeys are excellent especially like the glint in their eyes. :o
Do you remember where they came from - apart from the artic that is.
...all about giving presents to snot-nosed kids...The Austrians have solved this problem with the Krampus.
#74 (Reaper) Jake Ryan, Pulp Adventurer
Great figure. :)
That is also the Danish name for the Sami homeland, but everyone knows that Julemanden lives in Greenland!! ;)As if! >:(
Very nice additions, though I think we skipped a number.
Excellent additions, the mountaineer and peasant are interesting! I have the Mad Baron but haven't gotten to him yet :)
Just finished reading "Setting the East Ablaze" again- Ungern-Sternberg was a real piece of work, wasn't he?

He was a buddhist. I wonder if he is reincarnated as a current politician? Can we imagine a possible candidate.
I think you're right :)thank`s ,
I've fixed the numbering.
Love the Russian peasant - great job. Where is the miniature from?
One at a time, man! Still, wonderful job.
Gosh, Steve, he's a real beauty. Wonderful stripes.
Looking forward to seeing the rest now 8)
I have been digging and digging in my collection to find anything that fits "Back of Beyond". Would either of these blokes fit the bill?
???
...trying to make pic smaller.
I think the sinister Baron von Draken would be likely to plot a nefarious scheme in the BoB, with Shan closely on his tail! ;)Thanks for the clues! I had no idea what these figures were or what range they were from. (They were literally discovered at the back of a drawer that mostly held a few odd goblins and some Chronopia(tm) dwarves.)
#79 (Empress) Bukharan Cavalry
Once again very nice whites. I struggle to get depth in painting whites and it normally ends up just looking dirty.
Nice purple background, is that like your artistic trandmark now? :P
I spraypaint white, black thin wash (Citadel Nuln Oil, very good, has a smidgen of red in it). Be sure to use flow improver ( I use Windsor). Use liberal amounts of wash and make sure I work it into all crevices and folds. Wipe off excesses and let dry ( home made EazyBake oven). I use a Andrea Paints white pallet and use three successive hilites: limestone white, bone and titanium white.
That's a fine piece, Peder, lovely scene.
Nice burst of entries, fellows.
That coolie (#86) is quite interesting, what was the base figure?
Malifaux plastic goblin slop bearer. I just trimmed the ears.
#89 Another carter from the valley of Smut
beautiful, Peder :-*
#90 Pasha Moustasha Ali (Pulp Figures, Movember 2016 )
"This year’s moustachioed stalwart is the imposing Pasha Moustasha Ali. Everyone knows that fezzes are cool, and a dashing fez combined with a stunning stash can only make a man cooler than cool."
Thanks to Bob Murch for keeping up this great charity work year for year

LOL, leave some room for me boys... just on varnishing now... lol
Wait a minute - that is a monkey!
;)
You really are determined to put this club to bed, eh Peder? lol
The cave is brilliant.
Nice work on that John Hurt! :-*
Turned out to be unintentionally timely, didn't it? :'(
The count is a conversion. The body is an Obi-Wan from Knight models (which makes him a tall and imposing fellow) and which makes an excellent stand-in for a chapan-clad Turkmen type, the head is a GW Empire knight, and the hat is one I very carefully saved from an earlier Copplestone conversion when I was making my Soviet troops.
#93 Count Shokoloff
Fram,
I am a sucker for well painted fabrics and the Count's are some of the best that I have seen :-* :-* :-* Some really splendid brush work!
LB
Ha, well thanks. Whenever I try fancy patterns I worry about them overshadowing the basic shading. Luckily it more or less worked out alright for the Count in spite of some imprefections here and there.
#92 Piet Van ZondervanI wish I could paint like that. Fantastic job, there!

Adventurer, soldier of fortune, treasure hunter, and general nuisance.
I have one more for tomorrow.
I never thought about using my Russian priests in this! D'oh!Still four "berths" left Steve, post one of the other four from the pack :)

I'm still painting a bloody quadjumper. No luck in the rugby for us today either Keith :(Understandable Steve, there's a deadline for the quad I believe ?
Ooh ! Love that Russian officer, great sculpt and pose, nice paint job too :-*
What a great figure for a Tintin setting (something else I've wanted to do).
He is a great figure.
Maybe, one day, we should run a painting club where everyone paints the same figure.
Might be a bit of a slow burn - maybe a 50 person club, rather than a 100, but would be interesting to see so many different takes on a single figure :)
Actually I like the idea :)
Agreeing which miniature might be difficult though... lol
It would have to be something widely available... One of those really popular miniatures you see a lot...
Well, we can have a think about it :)
Or maybe a specially commissioned LAF figure - you never know one of the talented members may offer to sculpt it for free, or one of the LAF Lead Barons may donate some figures?

#99 Major General Francis Arthur "One-Arm" Sutton M.C
a PC is such a nice motivation for digging out a stalled project, and get a handful of minis ready for some table-top action!
Nice pair of Copplestone adventurers to end on!
I was kind of hoping this particular Painting Club would run slow enough for me to get a figure into it, but my painting mojo has been MIA since about Halloween and has really only re-emerged this last weekend with LPL11 getting me going again.
