Title: 30mm square bases - does anyone make them?
Post by: JollyBob on July 24, 2016, 09:03:36 PM
Just like it says, really.

I can find 25 or 40 mm squares, or 30mm round, but not a 30mm square, chamfered edge (GW style) blank base in either plastic or resin..

Does anybody know of a manufacturer?

 ???

Thanks
Rob

So...

That's a "No", then.

 lol

I could do you some lasered ones but there really isn't a chamfer on them unless they get sanded with an angle afterwards.

cheers

James

chamfered edge is tricky, but Magister Militum (http://www.magistermilitum.com/type/bases-basing-materials/30-mm-x-30-mm-black-plastic-bases-x50.html), Hurlbat (http://www.hurlbat.co.uk/product-p/bas_s30.htm) (who I'd never heard of) both do laser cut plastic

Magnetic Displays (http://www.magneticdisplays.co.uk/7%20-%20Plastic-base-10-30) has bases that look a bit chamfered

Thanks for the replies chaps.  :)

Zemjw, those ones from Magnetic Displays look perfect! Thank you!  :)

While the others are the right size, I don't think they would be as thick as slottas, and that would set my OCD nerd rage off...

Warbases do them - they do pretty much any size

I know you said plastic/resin, but any of the companies that do lasercut mdf or plywood could get you what you need. Just make sure you use 3mm thick (the hight of a slotta) material which most companies offer.

Of course they won't have the chisel edge of a slotta...

Unfortunately, the Magnetic Displays item in the link says "round". I don't think that listing is for a square base. I think it's for the round base in the right of the picture.  The square base in the middle looks like a standard 20mm square base.  I don't think they offer square 30mm bases.

Hmm. That's annoying.  :?

I ordered a couple of packs last night and the invoice clearly says SQUARE. I guess they have realised their mistake and changed the listing.

Looks like I'll be making my own then.

I thought I'd seen some, but on researching myself I found none!

It might be worth asking Ian at Fenris Games (he posts on these boards as "geronimo" IIRC) if he would be interested in making some "blanks" to that size/shape?
