The muskets should be turned 45 degrees to the right (from the figure's point of view

Helpful video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW0HvQ1HZTg). The typical position of arms is Shouldered Arms, which is to hold the trigger guard between thumb and index finger while the musket rests in between arm and body and against the shoulder. Right Shoulder Shift, as shown in the video, gives soldiers a little more comfort while on the march, and is easy to reach from Shouldered Arms. Going to the modern Right Shoulder Arms (as from FM 22-5) from Civil War-era Shouldered Arms would be incredibly awkward, as the soldier would have to rotate the musket 180-degrees on the same shoulder while marching.

Nice photo. And note the lock is held at or slightly above shoulder level. This was done to assist the soldier in keeping the rifle upright. At too much of an angle you could inadvertently bonk the soldier marching behind you (or if with a fixed bayonet, doing even worse damage).

You almost have to - it's very awkward to wear a pack over your greatcoat, but he has shown it can be done! VERY nice indeed Sir. Keep up the good work. :)

The painting of the soldiers in greatcoats wearing knapsacks is interesting in two regards. First, the blankets are shown folded and correctly stowed between the two bags that make up the knapsack. Second, it was supposed to be the greatcoat that was rolled and carried on top of the knapsack. In fact, the straps that held the greatcoat to the knapsack were issued with the greatcoat, and did not come with the knapsack itself. Since the soldiers are shown wearing their greatcoats, nothing is shown rolled on top of the knapsacks.

I was just commenting on the accuracy of the painting you posted. But to answer the question, the knapsack was worn under the cape of the greatcoat. To do otherwise would seriously hamper the soldier's freedom of movement. It's the same reason all other accoutrement belting is typically worn under the cape.
If you look closely at the painting, you will see the back of the cape is bunched up and riding atop the knapsack, rather than falling down to cover it. In my experience, the back of the cape bunched up and riding atop the knapsack is the natural order, as the cape has a tendency to ride up.

Typically they would have dropped packs and blanket rolls before a major attack, and left them in a pile in the rear.

We are currently working on the Kickstarter for 28mm metal Union soldiers in great coats. One of the stretch goals is Union Generals in great coats.
We have selected two Generals for Fredericksburg: General Meagher and General Burnsides. Who should we create for a 3rd General?

I watched the you tube review from Rocky's War Room and they look even better in the metal. These are going to sell very well, but more than that , even a few of these added in are going to bring life to anybody's collection.
This is a great hobby where someone's work out in Russia can end up on our tabletops in UK and Europe and the US. I was impressed when you altered the sculpts when you found out about the musket carry error.

Hello gentlemen,
Yes, the Irish Brigade will get to Old Glory UK after we have fulfilled the orders for the Kickstarter.
We plan to do artillery in greatcoats, although the next kickstarter will be for USCTs in greatcoats and perhaps frock coats. Look for that in February.
No plans to do Buford at this time as we are looking to complete the winter battles first....but we are always interested in hearing what other figures you would like to see!
We also have plans to have Khmorg branch out into another American conflict.....but more on that later.

The newest marching figures and command packs are at the casters for mold manufacturing. I hope to have these on the website by the summer.
