Title: Perry miniatures Warlord Games Comparison
Post by: Blofeld on August 13, 2016, 10:31:08 AM
Does anyone know how well do Perry's DAK and 8th army scale with Warlord Games Bolt Action plastics? Various reviews and comparisons seem to offer conflicting viewpoints and was just wondering if any of the honourable members on this forum had any experience of using the two together?
Thanks
Blofeld

Blofeld, no point adding too much to soldado's image, which is worth a thousand words. But I've just finished creating four WW2 'platoons' for Chain of Command (Brit southern Europe, German ditto, US Army mid-war and German paratroops). The question is not so much size, tho the Perry figures are quite small compared to many competitors, but proportion. And the real issue once you get down to it is the enormity of the heads on the Warlord plastics (weapons are a little bigger too).
Had to draft in some Warlord metals to the British platoon (for specialist engineer roles), and sliced off their great big helmets, replacing them with Perry ones. Not ideal, but workable. With my German paras I needed some figures with panzerfausts and one or two others to supplement by Perry ones. I equipped them with the covered helmets (and one with a peaked cap) so that the disparity between the uncovered helmet and the Perry one was not so obvious.

For plastics I'd also recommend Wargames Factory's lines, they do Germans, Soviets and US infantry. They aren't sold anymore, and Warlord didn't pick up them like they did the company's modern stuff, but plenty of places still have leftover stock.

They're not as stocky as Warlord's minis, nor quite as thin/realistic as the Perry's. IIRC on average the boxes come with 3 dozen models with enough weapon options to arm most of the guys with either rifles or SMGs (plus LMGs, Panzerfausts, etc).

That's great thanks for all your help. Made a decision much easier, its hard to see the scale differences until you see the two miniatures side by side.
Thanks again
