Title: WWII - Great find, 1/56th Matilda's I -limited supply
Post by: Geudens on January 28, 2009, 10:28:59 AM
I've been sitting on this for a week now (GWP being down still), so I'm glad to be able to
share it here with you (BTW, the pics are taken from the instruction CD):

It is the rest of a production run from a Belgian manufacturer (£ 18
apiece + p&p) that I've found (limited stock available). You can
email Philip Van Acker (the seller) at:

hobbyexpress@hotmail.com

I've bought 3... Mind you: these are "true" models, as opposed
to "wargame models" (= more details), but to my knowlegde no other
28mm Mk I is available at the moment. The box comes with
instructions (in English) on a CD.

Hope you like it,

Rudi

Hi Rudi,

Did you find this in a catalogue at Hoby Express? I looked there, but could not find anything.

I did use the contact e-mail address attention Philip and I'll wait and see.

Chow,

Helen

Hi Helen,

Actually, not in the catalogue (I think).  A few weeks ago he sold one on Ebay, but since I wanted 3, this was no use, so I emailed him.  He has been a TSA member and supplier in the past (when he still was "in business"), so he invited me over to his place (it's in my neigbourhood) and I picked the models up.  That's when I saw he had some more left on the shelf, so I posted the info here after discussing this possibility with him.  I think he will answer your message duely.

Best regards,

Rudi

looks like a good find, but also incredibly fiddily/perhaps even a bit fragile.

I'll take my chances that Crouchie decides to produce one.... ;)

Yeah, this might get him into it!  I wonder when his website will be up and running again...

Envy! Nice find, Rudi!  :o :-* :-* :-*

Brilliant, but a "sturdier" (and consequently less detailed...) wargaming variant would be o.k. with me.
The price tag is good, but at the moment this would collide with my other projects.   :'(

Crouchie will certainly make one, I know he was trying to figure out how to make the track units sturdy enough for gaming purposes, and I think he had already done some work on making the tank body.

In any case if I don't hear from him I can wait for Ian's model.

Thats good enough for me - i'll wait for Crouchie to make one then, and then buy lots.

Cheers Nigel.

Thanks to Rudi I'd Philip send me an e-mail when he saw that I'd the incorrect e-mail address.

Okay so here is the gist from Philip and once again my thanks to Rudi and Philip:
"The Matilda I is a resin kit in 1/56 scale. You can place a figure in the turret hatch if you want, I have added an image of the kit so you can see what it actually is like. I glued the hatch closed, but you can build it open as well. You will notice that it is not a typical wargaming kit, it was actually intended to be a normal model kit with a high level of detailing. It isn't difficult to build, but does require some patience and fiddling with smaller parts. Sending the kit over to Australia is no problem, unfortunately shipping costs have risen over the last year. Price of the kit is 18£, shipping costs are 9.6 euro which equates to approx. 8.50£. which would make a total of 26.50£
Concerning payment, paypal is preferred, this is safe and secure for everyone."

So my thanks to Philip for his reply and answering some questions I'd.

I hope it doesn't take him as long as getting his website running again.  For a while now ordering (and viewing the products) has been out of the question (believe me, I know...).  I understand that sites have to be upgraded, but that's no reason to shut down ordering for weeks on end.  Weird, to say the lease.

Pass that on to the fellow that makes it and tell him if he does Panzer 38t, MkI  and Mk II I will be his customer!!

Good work!

Thats because Ian has sold Chieftain Models to Company B and JTFM. He has a few models left in stock, and will be sorting something out with the website in the next few weeks.

He is starting a new company, and will concentrate on the early war period only, the range will include vehicles, and figures ( sculpted by Mike Owen of Artizan fame)He hopes to have the first sets of figures out for Salute in March,The early war vehiles he already has will be carried by his new company.
I do believe the company will be called B.E.F Miniatures
