Shieldwolf Miniatures is heading to Kickstarter next month in order to fund another set of hard plastic miniatures, this time the Forest Goblins! Never before has anyone tried to do this into a multi-part plastic army and we would be both happy and proud if people supported our vision and project! :)
(http://i902.photobucket.com/albums/ac221/Shieldwolf_Miniatures/Forest%20Goblin%20Army%20on%20Kickstarter%20by%20Shieldwolf%20Miniatures%20JPEG_zpssz2eces4.jpg)
This army is a bet for Angelos and his crew since the company has to outperform everything else currently available; apparently the bet has been taken and the KS launches early-mid September! It commences with Infantry and as stretch goals pile up there will be cavalry, warmachines and monsters, all of which designed for hard plastic (HIPS) production!
Once again great value for money and quality offerings of the companies involved are to be expected like all previous SwM projects.
Thank you for reading. :D
-
Just an inquiry....do you make enough money via KS to fund the creation of the molds and initial product run, or do you already have capital and use the KS for additional fundage/advertising?
( I have preliminary designs for a line of figures I want to do but no capital, and I didn't think that KS could generate enough to fund the project).
-
I like the first concept, looking forward to seeing some more renders. :)

@KGatch113
Kickstarter to us, just like any other crowdfunding platform, is and should be used for projects to come to life that otherwise would have had a very hard time ever seeing the light of day.
Shieldwolf Miniatures is not a KS-start up, on the contrary the company invested several tenths of thousands of pounds on its own before even thinking of approaching a crowdfunding site. It's well known (you can check reviews and comments on forums/gaming clubs etc) that the plastics we produce are the best money can buy and their quality is second to none; this is also the reason we are having such a hard time augmenting drastically our range. We could have taken the easy road to China but we opted for quality instead of quantity.
By maintaining our reputation, patience and passion for which we keep on investing personal funds, this is already picking up the pace. :)
To answer your question straight away, if we have the money already; "No. We don't have that much". While much larger than the average miniatures company in the market, we genuinely need the additional funds, these kits cost tenths of thousands of $$$ and due to our passion and dedication we are going to be pouring our own money alongside the backers to make this happen, otherwise both funding target and stretch goals would be like double of what they are now.
If people do not support this project, the Forest Goblins (along with almost everything else we have invested for them) will never see the light of day. Unfortunate, but simple as that. 8)
@Timbor
Thank you! :)

Back is a little too muscly for my liking(I like my goblins a little more worry) not so much that I won't pick up a box of the price is right. I'll probably be in

Maybe the forest goblins eat lots of fruit and veg to keep them fit and healthy, rather than the cave dwelling crowd eating fishbones in Moria :~}

Dropping this here... :)

KS launches this Tuesday! Lucky 13th! :D
(http://i902.photobucket.com/albums/ac221/Shieldwolf_Miniatures/Launching%20on%20September%2013th_zpsy3gddaek.jpg)
Time of launch to be announced on Monday 12th.
In the meanwhile all this experience we are accumulating on plastic tooling gets implemented in each new kit, here's how ball-point joints will allow large variability even if using the same pieces (and we'll try to get as much goodies as possible on the sprues once again!)

I'm a little excited... Will you have more renders of the infantry?

Thank you, happy you like them as much as we do!
And oh yes... and not only for the foot soldiers! We have shown very very little of what we have prepared, we had too much going on completing wave-1 of our previous Shieldmaiden KS, but everything has shipped and, although very tight, we are still on schedule! :D
Time of launch for tomorrow, some people will find them more suitable than others, we try our best. It's a big world out there! :)

Agree whilst they look nice an different, they look bit orcish to me, I always went with goblins were slightly scrawny and it was their great numbers with helped them win battles.
-
So far I like the look better than the orcs you have released, so it seems like you are improving with each set ;) Looking forward to seeing what is on offer.

So are there any other poses or are they all the same? (not including changing angle of the spear)
-
So are there any other poses or are they all the same? (not including changing angle of the spear)
Not only the angle of the spear but also the left arms as they too are separate pieces and can also be rotated due to the ball point junctions we are tooling.
Poses are not the same, although due to practical reasons they can't change too much, these miniatures are destined for 20mm square bases rank n' file after all :)
Also, a lot more spears and weapon options will be made available, these are just to show the main idea, it is a KS after all and we genuinely need the funding to make this into a reality! 8)
Here's a larger view if you can make it out, some will have their right leg infront and others the left, others more standing more or less straight :)

Standing on a massive 100mm square base! And this is the smaller version.. without the howdah! o_o 8)

Thank you @Timbor.
HOWDAHS revealed! :)

We hope you like them as much as we do, we think Olivier Nkwetti delivered a fantastic piece of work once again! :D
-
The mount and Howdah are brilliant.
-
Yep, and I don't mind saying far more interesting than the gobbos. Very cool mount. Also a good idea for the market since a number of games can use him for various other things.
-
@3 fingers
Thanks! :D
@Elbows
No argument as we agree that the Brutgoth could be considered as more interesting, but it's an unjust comparison if you allow me; this is made out of resin and therefore avoids the undercuts the Goblins will suffer due to tooling restrictions for their plastic kit. Also, it's a centerpiece, a person is probably going to field only one or two maximum in the game. Compared to 100 Goblins this will be the eye-catcher, not the simple troops underneath swarming accross the table :)
Regardless, very happy you like it, thank you for your interest and support! 8)

More spear versions (renders) :)

And a new add-on: Goblin Stew & crew :D

Slightly limp wristed crew man there !

Oh love the big beastie by the way!

Looking good and off with a good start too.

Thank you! :D

Do you have plans for any forest goblin resin characters?
My joining will depend on a trip to the dentist later this week... :'(
-
You mean like these obscured ones? ::)
-
Exactly like them. :)
I just glanced at them and assumed they were existing minis- the top one is very close in pose to an existing goblin... Whether I can afford to join or not, I hope they get unlocked.
I don't know if you're interested in unsolicited suggestions, but have you thought of modifying your existing trolls to "forest trolls"? It could be as easy as swapping their weapons out for stone clubs/axes, and their existing armour for wood, leather, and feathers. Maybe some alternative heads, too?
-
Actually @MattW we've already seen pictures of someone using them as wild/primitive Ogres. A popular trend is to use our Mountain Orcs as Daemons since people prefer to use them as such also. To each his own. :D
(http://i902.photobucket.com/albums/ac221/Shieldwolf_Miniatures/Daemon%20Shieldwolf%20Orcs_zpsi8pc6x2h.jpg)
Anyway, we have thought of that and I for one appreciate you taking the time to write this down, truth be told we try giving each miniature a character of its own (agreed, not always succesful in that but we do indeed try!). For example the easiest thing for us to do and not go into all that trouble was to paint the wolves differently (ice wolves and great wolves, belonging to the Krumvaal Northern Alliance and Orc races respectively). We instead did the legwork to provide different sculpts and not simply different paintjobs 8)
(the chains on the wolf are not too visible due to the painjob itself) :)

New pledge levels have been added that includes the Aracnomaidens and Goblin Stew

Slow weekend in front of us, getting so close to fund... :D
A variety of choices now available though! 8)

Shieldwolf has covered the costs of the forest Brutgoth so that is now unlocked and the bows stretch goal has moved forward and is the first one after funding,
Forest Goblin Chieftain A has been added to the add-on list,

A new idea has evolved into a conversation that apparently is being liked by the backers; to substitute a couple of spears/shields with a couple of bows instead of going "full" spears for the funding target. 8)
That's if the project funds and in the remote case that the SG-1 (a 2,5K stretch) doesn't get met naturally. Hopefully this won't be the case, but people find it a positive idea for now! :)
What do you think?
-
According to comments from all engaged forums and KS comment thread, it has proven obvious backers are in favor of this change.
OK, for us works the same, so this is what we are now looking at!
Best quality plastics money can buy, 84% funded, let's do this! :D
-
A very warm "thank you" to all current backers regardless of how this ends. Your support has been amazing! :D
-
The new boxes will contain a total of 5 sprues. Each sprue will include 5 spears,4 shields,3 bows, along with some left/right bare arms.
Each box still allows a full 25 kitted speared forest goblins, it's that we get a little less variety and no left-over spears that way on the sprues.
32hrs left and slowly climbing :)
-
We didn't make it :( :( :(
I would really like to have these splendid minis in my army!
Maybe another time with less Brutgoths and more Goblins?
cheers Thomas
-
All comments and suggestions are appreciated (as always!) :)
Brutgoths were selected for 4 reasons:
1. They boost the amount of funding, goblins alone don't cover it.
2. It is an army; bringing huge beasts like this make it feel like one from the get-go.
3. Innovation; creating unique miniatures never seen before is one of the policies of Shieldwolf Miniatures. Not a single backer was expecting it, even those who knew about the project back in August 5th when it was first announced.
4. Our current flagship (and what made the company stand out) is the Orc range; granted, it will probably be replaced with time once the Shieldmaiden army is made available via retail in a few months but that doesn't mean that our supporters won't keep asking for more Orcish goodies. The Mountain Brutgoth, the fluff of which was revealed back in early 2014 was designed to meet this expectation and made available via retail before we plunge ourselves on the Orcs of the Valleys.
For one last time, we are grateful for everyone's support in this project. Shieldwolf Miniatures is ever growing and the positivity displayed once again in the comments section speaks for itself. Thank you. :)
