have a look at a darkest afrika report we (Diomedes/Nanny/and me) did for the german Sweetwater-Forum

For some bizarre reason I can never get blue painted to my satisfaction. This is pretty sad when you consider I've got several hundred 15mm French Napoleonics, not to mention plenty of 28mm RN and Union ACW figures :(

I'm therefor insanely jealous of people like you who can get it right  ;)

I think the real trick is to start with a much darker shade than with other colours. Blue is one of those colours where the highlights, more than the mid-tones, decide the perception....
