As it happens, I'm probably a commodore as I've got hold of first ever 1/1200 ships of the line.
Second hand, from eBay, my fleet turned out to be a sorry sight.

If you want the gruesome details of all the faffing with sheet styrene and brass rod that I had to do to get them sorted, there's a blog entry here. http://critfailure.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/raising-my-flag.html
But here's the finished first one;

More shots on the blog and an explanation for the inaccurate rigging: https://critfailure.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/master-and-commander.html

Ohh nice...
I must really dust of my shipcollection seeing work like this.
-
Thanks. I have to say, from being used to 28mm this made a nice change. And I'm really happy with the results.
-
Very nice, great work! I never had the guts to do 1/1200 napoleonic ships... but I love naval games and have a couple of 1/2400. What rules are you going to use?

I've grabbed Fighting Sail in the Osprey Summer Sale - 30% off was too good to miss. I've also got a PDF of Trafalgar kicking around somewhere seeing as the actual books are like hen's teeth.

Aye, Bezzo. I seem to spend most of my hobby time stripping and fixing second hand stuff. The only annoyance with these is that I couldn't strip them as they were too delicate and I'm sure a lot of detail was buried under that primer.
-
I can also highly recommend TooFatLardies' Kiss Me Hardy - they give quick and fun games!
-
Thanks Shandy; will check them out.

Another vote for Kiss Me Hardy, although my group plays Signal Close Action.

I've completed the second of my fleet; this time the Spanish Santissima Trinidad.

This time I've done slightly more complex rigging; more details on the blog: https://critfailure.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/santissima-trinidad.html

Great work in rescuing those beauties, nice to see them emerge from the primer!! :)
-
Thanks. I'm really happy with them - especially as I think I'm getting better with each one.
-
Done another one. This one was in a bad way in terms of the state of the model when it arrived; lots of glued on remnants of rigging and cardboard ratlines. I couldn't remove all of it but I think I got it looking something like: The HMS Caledonia

And, with the completion of the Billy Ruffian I have finished the little squadron of 4 ships. It's been quite the rescue project and learning curve.
