Title: 55 MINUTES AT PEKING

Hi
 We have a memorial game coming up on the 24th Of September dedicated to our wargame friend Mike Seddon  who sadly past away after a fight with cancer last year.
He loved to set up  multi player fun games at the club and 55 minutes at Peking was one of his favourites.
I built my Japanese Legation and some figures  and other club members added bits too , but as Mike wasn't a avid terrain builder it was never totally produced , even so he always made it a fun game for us.
While he was ill Mike sold all his wargames kit towards charity and I bought  the Boxer bits so as to keep the game in the club.
I decided for the memorial game this year I would re create the full game in his memory.Ive been aided in this with odd bits other players have and Ade deacon who is building some legations and painting figures as I speak.

The pics are all I Phone that ive been taking as I went so a bit of a mish mash, i wil add some more pics as i finish painting the outstanding legations and figures.
Alao i`ll post the full game on the day.

One last message and that's to Paul Carson and the Staines Wargamers who invented this game and the layout and put it in the mag for all to use and play.........thankyou i hope our re-make does you proud.

Wonderful work Al.  The game is great fun to play, we ran it over two days at Gauntlet in 2011.

Hoping to do the same at school some time.

Do you use the rules as written or have you adapted them over the years?

On the plan there are a lot of numbers in red and black. What do they represent?

Rules as written

On the plan there are a lot of numbers in red and black. What do they represent?

The black numbers are the measurements off the map and the red are the scaled up

What a fitting tribute to a good friend! :)

That's an inspired idea using the adhesive stone slab as corner stones on then buildings! And just the right amount of rubble, for my tastes, in thr ruined ones! What are the beads for? I had a look through all the pictures, but I couldn't see them being used for anything?

A fitting tribute to your friend. I picked up my copy of Wargames Illustrated 55 minutes at Peking and re-read the article. Have gamed the period a few times over the years.  This period is my all-time favourite for gaming. Colourful and full of character. Best wishes for your continued project.

Very very cool.
About 30 years ago I start on a 55
days of Peking game.
Never did finish all the buildings.
Still have many figures, lots of them painted.
But I still have the buildings and figures in the mess of my garage.
Maybe, just maybe, now that I retired I will dig them out.
