Title: The Royal Geographical Society land on Venus
Post by: Malamute on February 02, 2009, 09:14:23 AM
February 2nd 1884.

The first British exploration of Venus began earlier today with the arrival of the Royal Geographical Society expedition led by the current president of the RGS Lord Abedare and his financier Lord Belborough. (Astute readers will recall Lord Belborough has designed and built most of the civilian transports, as well as fund the expedition.)

Lord Abedare sporting a new Winchester repeating rifle with splendid Brass magnifying sight.

Spiffing stuff. Particularly like Lord Aberdare. Great sideburns. There are some gems in the West Wind ranges...

He is from the Cowboy Wars range, from one of the European Hunting Party packs.(He comes with a nice mounted version who will shortly be riding a dinosaur.. ;))
I don't think you can get them anymore from Westwind. Try Old Glory
He is from one of these two packs(not sure which one):

No, the figure is untouched, he is as he came. The rifle with sight is a nice touch though. :)

Then you're a better man than I.

I would have called him Hans Glans, or Professor Anthony Puppil-Helmit or something.

I have no life...  :'(

Dodge - we'll soon drag you over to the Dark Side and get you plating VSF lol

IMHO the hunting party packs are great figurees with so many uses. Each pack contains mounted and dismounted versions of two figures. I have the two Russian packs, which contain a couple of great officers in uniform with hunting rifles, who cry out to be involved in the Great Game. However, be warned that they will be a bit smaller than your Copplestone Russians.

I had thought to myself only recently there had not been much from Malamute and there was probably a large project going to be sprung at some point. Never liked Geography myself but these are great. Old Glory - who would have thought it ;D

Yes that will do fine, slip a spacer under each figure, perhaps a bit of 3mm or 5mm plasticard between the figure and the chosen base and they will be ok.

I am not so concerned about scale creep and freely intermingle Copplestone with Foundry, westwind etc. Its not so noticeable on the table, especially as each figure is a character rather than being part of a unit.

excellent, I wiil do that, like you I have no real issue with scale creep as long as its not too bad,

a spacer is what I will do, once I have sorted out my order which I think I have cocked up  o_o, by selecting the wrong postage option.

I used to belong to the RGS back in the days I was in the U.K. Glad that I got to see Edmund Hillary speak about Everest. However, I would have loved to heard the lecture these dear fellows would have given.

So come on, lets see a game or two on Venus with these fine fellows and your amazing collection of dinosaurs!
