Say, Cuprum, do you know what material Andrew is sculpting in? And was that material a part of the cause that made the molding fail?
-
Material usual - polymer clay. Figures from such material molded "Griffin" with no problems.

In my opinion, the fault there molder qualification and incorrectly selected vulcanization mode, or the properties of silicone rubber.
As a last resort you could make tin copy with these figures drop method, and then later pewter casting mold a under pressure...

Thanks!
I have often been tempted to try sculpting using FIMO polymer clay. I have very little luck in making epoxy putties behave for me... only enough to do very simple conversions.
