Title: Previews of Barsoomian Figures
Post by: sculptingfool on September 15, 2016, 09:14:31 PM
You can find previews of new minis that will soon be released by TinMan here http://johnwintersculpting.blogspot.com/.
There is a mild NSFW factor for those who wish to know such things.

Dumb question, does that include the new mounted stuff?  Also, how long is the body of that skiff miniature?

The mounted figures were not finished in time as it can take a couple of months to get a figure through the mold maker's queue of work.

The skiff is only a couple of inches long and can hold two minis comfortably as pictured below.

Please allow me to salivate at this magnificent spectacle. I will temporarily be devoid of all dignity and shame while doing so. ;D

Yes, they would work quite nicely in smaller scales. Oh for some 15mm Barsoom!

Yes I have a few in the larger scale for VSF and wish I could find something as good in 15/18mm as I transition scales/sizes of figures.

Me, too, brothers. Alas, who will hear our calls? I had always hoped Highlander would start making some after his really good Space 1890 and Tarzan models...

Forget 15mm, if you were to add a side railing ,and maybe raised archer platform fore and aft, that would make an awesome flying galley in 6mm  :D :D :D

Does anyone know how these match-up with the Bronze Age mini's Mars stuff?

I have some Bronze Age fantasy stuff which is ok next to Tin Man not-Barsoom; in general Tin Man looks slightly higher and thinner. I think the real problem will be the not-Green Martians, but I wouldlove to see comparison shots.

Good to know, I have some Bronze Age pirates so would probably be just fine to match, thanks!

Actually I was thinking primarily of that for the flyers. They would be great for 6mm, if there were suitable figures. A bit easy to get away with proxies/conversions in 6mm than 15mm though. I would use the flyers for 15mm too though. I have had a long held desire to make a some big ships for a Barsoomian show game, if suitable figures were available.

You've been watching Stroezie's work, right? Already done that.  ;)

Strangely, I think the flyers work well for the 28, and would do for large ships in 6, but that tail portion seems big for the inbetween 15mm. Can't explain it, of course.

I have seen Stroezie's work, but I am thinking of something quite different, more dreadnought than something resembling an ornithopter. Each to his own, but I can't see the problem with that the tail in any scale, although replacing the discs with clear plastic would be preferable. One day. 15mm Barsoom. Someone will take my money and run. Khurasn has made some kind of move in that general direction recently, but not full on Barsoom. I also fancy his Away Team Tahars for Pellucidar Mahars, if I can remove the guns!
