Ho Ho HO!
Last year, we had a Secret Santa Gift Exchange that was a lot of fun, so we will repeat it again this year
Previous years thread is here... http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=84096.0
Here is how it works...
Anyone who wants to sign up, just says "I am in" on this thread, then PMs me their info* later. Once the Registration period is over... say Beginning of November, I'll send everyone who is playing ONE address to send a Secret Santa Gift to. Each person is responsible for sending a gift of nominal value (determined by the group) to the individual he has an address for.... Everybody reports here in the secret Santa thread when there gift arrives, and what it was, and after everyone gets theirs, we can "reveal" who we were the secret Santa too.
The points to stress are
1) The person receiving the gift doesn't know who the giver is (until revealed after date specified by group)
2) You only buy ONE gift for ONE recipient (and you only GET ONE gift from ONE sender)
3) Gifts should have a value that is pre-determined buy the group... that is, if we say $20/€20 or so. Your gift can be worth more if you want, but the minimum value is just to make it equitable for all players. You don't even have to buy anything... You can grab a few figures (painted or unpainted) throw em in a box and mail em off... done!
It can be anything Mini/LAF related - Paints, Brushes, Games, Rules, Dice, Figures, etc etc etc....
4) Gifts must go out BY DECEMBER 1! to ensure they arrive before Christmas. (hard to enforce, but try to meet the sending deadline.)
CONCERNS
I WILL TRY TO KEEP FOLKS ORGANIZED BY CONTINENT!
LAF is a big community... we have folks from ALL over ( Which is another reason why it is helpful to send everything out by Dec 1). I'll try to keep the Europeans together, and the Americas together as well... It all depends on who is participating and where they are from. It usually takes about 10 participants to make it worthwhile, but the more the merrier!
We will close "sign ups" on SUNDAY NOV 6 which should give you 3 weeks to shop/paint/package/Mail or whatever you need to do to give the mailing system time to get the packages to their recipients.
IF YOU ARE IN, COMMENT IN THIS THREAD, and SEND ME YOUR MAILING ADDRESS!
Every county's postal system seems to want it different, and while yours is natural to you, for somebody else, from a different place in the world, it might look strange. So seperate by line, as to what goes where.
I WILL NEED SOME INFO to help your secret santa out.
*info
Mailing address
Name/Forum Name
Areas of Interest for Figs
Shirt Size
I'd put a couple things down as you maybe into 3mm Spanish Civil War Parade Figures, but the guy who gets you is into Moon Fantasy... (or whatever).... the goal is not to stress anyone out, but to have a good time giving and getting.... so if you like 70/80s grenadier figures, but also like florecent paints and Gaming T-shirts, put that down too!
Think I covered all the basics, if you have questions, ask, and even if you commented in last year's thread that you want in for this year, repost "I'm in" Here
-
I'll use this space to organize who is in this year...

-
Ok, why not.
I am in.
-
I'm in :D
If possible please separate USA from Canada. Mailing rates between the two are extortionate and Customs and Excise don't play nicely together, evident by delays, Customs fees and taxes passed on to Recipients.
-
Sterling... I hear you, and I will do what I can.
PM'd you
-
Last year I was some Canadian guy's Santa, so I'd like it a bit closer to home please.... :)
Either way, I'm in again!
-
I'm in again.
-
I'm in again this year. I think ~20€ is a good point, seeing as I can actually afford that.
-
Please count me in!
:D

I'm in also.
-
My first time ever! I'd like to join as well :)
-
This sounds like fun. I'm in. :)
-
I will play! Though I don't mind shipping to either Canadia or US of A.
Is the expectation to send a painted miniature?
-
I'm in!
-
Is the expectation to send a painted miniature?
Assuming this is the same as last year there are no expectations at all.
Send whatever you think would be appreciated by the person whose name you get. New figures bought just for this, older figures from your collection, painted or unpainted. Scenery pieces, Paints and Brushes. Your choice.
-
Count me in.
-
I am in too!
-
My maiden trip, and happy to join. I'm in :).
-
As above: count me in as a first-timer.
-
Wow!
The response has been awesome!
23 names so far, please check post #2 and make sure your name is there... I haven't gone through the PMs yet to see if somebody PM'd me without saying "I'm in" here...
We close the doors Sunday Night.... Nov 6, and I will work to get the names out by Monday night so we can all get started.
Somebody asked, and it was answered by another member here... but there really isn't a huge expectation on the Santas.... you can buy new, used, painted, one from your own collection... etc etc. Not limited to just mini's... Rules, "Related" T-shirts, Paints... whatever you think your person would like that is related to the hobby.
We say to shoot for $20/€20 value to make it fair... but if you want to send a gift that has a higher value, that is entirely up to you!
Again, the point is to have fun, and not feel under pressure to give or receive.
Ho Ho Ho... 2 more days to go!
-
Last Call!
-
Aussies welcome? :)
-
Im in...its still the 6th here in the mountain timezone...
-
OK...
I got my Santa List... but I am missing some details from those that said "i'm in"
I have updated the second post, but here are the folks that I don't have info for... and yes, you may have sent it... but I am trying to manage 25 e-mails and Pms from around the world...
-
PM sent :)
-
Pm sent with info...

And can I just add a huge 'THANK YOU!' for organising this, as I guess it can be a right pain at times.

-
Getting Close... still have a few info hold outs though...
Waiting on
LordOdo
Amalric
Thargor
Timbor
Once I get their info, I will sort out by country/nearest country and then interest if I can.
-
PM sent
I'm sorry for the hold up and Thank you for handling this.
-
Think that is everyone now...
Been swamped with family stuff this weekend... but should be sending out santas tomorrow!
-
Ho HO HO!
The game is in motion!
Everybody got PM'd with their Secret Santa Giftee
IF YOU DIDN"T GET ONE, Or got two etc etc... let me know quickly so I can get it sorted out.
Here is how it works now....
Try to get your present mailed out as soon as possible... sometimes these things are going across oceans and continents so we want to give them plenty of time to arrive.
When you gift arrives, you can either open it up immediately, or save it for Christmas... But please post here, in this thread, that your gift arrived. If you open it, take a picture and post it here too!
Again, if you have any issues, PM me asap.
-
All in order and I shall get my parcel out ASAP, just as soon as I have figured out what to send.
Thanks again for taking this on for another year.
It must take quite a bit of organising and patience.
Fair play to you for the effort, sir.
:D :D
-
Everybody should be ready to ship out, or have shipped out.
Any problems or unforseen delays, please PM me!
-
My order for my gift arrived this past week, so my surprise should be going in the post this week! :D
-
Working on it! I have lots of confidence in the postal services overhere so no worries :D
DJ
-
I have my gift packed and ready. Now I just have to find a time to go to the post office.
Are people buying new stuff for this?
I have (just) dug out some stuff from the Lead mountain that could use a new home where it will (hopefully) recieve the love and care I can not provide due to my butterfly attention spam.
-
Are people buying new stuff for this? ...just dug out some stuff...
That's my road as well...a little bit of this and that in the hopes that something will click the 'Ooo shiny!' switch at the other end.
Just waiting for paint to dry before boxing...though I could add the rush from a face full of fumes gained upon opening to the list of things packed... ; )
-
Last year I sent OOP pieces from my collection as that is what best matched the interests listed of the recipient.
This year I got very limited options on the request (which did not match my interests at all) so have bought new.......currently hoping they arrive in time
-
And posted. Hopefully the recipient will enjoy his gift.
-
Posted :)
-
Posted :)
Mine too.
-
Posted as well :)
-
I sent the pack on it's way. :)

Mine's been sent as well. Hope the recipient enjoys it :)
-
Due to circumstances beyond my control, my gift is delayed... I hope to send my gift a.s.a.p... :(
-
Sent and received in the same day. Thankyou Secret Santa for the excellently illustrated Frostgrave calendar and the evil snowmen to join our Frozen themed warband (my daughter will be pleased) :)
-
...Mind blown :o The gift that Santa has sent to myself has been delivered today! And what a gift it is: Kingdom Death Manhunter expansion and a resin(!) Warrior of the Sun Pin-up! :-* :-* :-*
Thank you Santa! Awesome gifts!

A parcel was delivered today - nothing to say it was from my Secret Santa - but not expecting anything else to be delivered. It contained 2 sprues of Frostgrave Barbarians and the Nickstarter Barbarian Wizard, Apprentice and objectives.
Hope to send out my parcel on Monday or Tuesday.
-
Just received my parcel, and I have to say a great, loud THANK YOU SECRET SANTA! Lovely haul of Black Scorpion (+1 Foundry) pirates, with a side of FIW (I think). Pretty much exactly what I was wishing for :-*

-
My parcel is on it's way.....
-
My goodies showed up earlier in the week - just now got around to snapping a photo.
Welcome additions to my growing pile of unpainted pulp stuff - a scary looking caveman chief and some disreputable sailors:

Perhaps the onset of winter will get me to hunker down and get it on the table?
-
My Secret Santa gift arrived today. I got a nice Wilhelm von Shakespeare mini :)

-
Hey Guys!
If you have received a gift... please post here if you haven't already. Some of these packages are crossing boarders and continents... and the person sending them wants to make sure they arrive so.....
Please post if you got em!
-
I'm a little confused. I got a pack today with a nicely wrapped little bundle inside and envelop saying Secret Santa.
So who sent the Wilhelm von Shakespeare mini? o_o
-
McMordain you hoarder! Share the wealth! lol
-
I'm not against sharing, but cutting up such a nice mini... I don't have the heart. :D
-
... I don't have the heart. :D
...that'll probably show up in the next package.

Wow, my Secret Santa really came up trumps. I received not one but two Pirate crews. The first was Blackbeards Crew from Northstar's 'On the Seven Seas' range and second crew of miniatures which I have never seen before but have some great sculpts including a wonderful turkish pirate. I don't have any of these fugures in my collection.

Whoever you are - many, many thanks. I shall be putting some paint on them over the christmas period and post the results on the swashbucklers board.
P.S. If anyone knows the manufacturor of the second crew (the ones on the right of the picture) can they let me know.

It seems like every year (no matter which forum... I have done these for Classic Cars, Pirate Living History, Cigars etc)
inevitably, somebody "can't do it" and I get an e-mail at the last minute (in this case, early-mid December) telling me somebody can't play. Usually, I get gifts out in that persons place, so that everybody gets a gift. And with this being an international forum, shipping charges can be more than the gift if i suddenly get somebody in New Zealand.
So, as a precaution, I kept myself out of the loop, so that if it happened, I could step in. So far, so good this year... as nobody has dropped out after the names went out!
I just want everyone else to have a good time and enjoy it.
They say, "Its the giving that counts" so I am all in on that!
Plus, there was kind of an uneven amount of folks when separated by country/continent... and I didn't want me to be the cause of somebody in Ireland having to ship a gift to Morocco...
-
Thanks for organising this again :)
-
Got a pic of mine today..... Frostgrave Barbarians, including the Nickstarter Wizard,, Apprentice and Treasure Tokens. :)

Man you guys are killin' me...I'm poor at the moment, so my gift wasn't quite as generous as some of the ones I'm seeing! lol
-
Thank you Santa!!
I'm guessing it's from you seeing as I've never ordered from Meeplemart in Toronto.
No pics until Xmas Day folks, this is probably one of the few gaming related goodies I'll get this Xmas and I'm determined to resist until the big day!!

Ha!
That is why I did this... to ensure that we got some minis for Christmas! My wife wouldn't have a clue, and none of my friends know I am into this....
It was a blast last year, and looks to be even better this year!
-
Hi Paul,
Can't wait to see what you do with the Old School Dungeon. I take it that the photos were the set that I assembled, otherwise you are very quick!!
Thanks for the miniatures as well, they look great. Pulp Alley Cthullu here we come. I'll post some photos off them over Christmas when they get some paint on them.
Cheers,
Chris
-
My secret surprise arrived a couple days ago but just managed to take a picture! They are 3 awesome metal inquisition troops in power armour. Oldhammer and glorious metal! I don't even have these guys yet. Thanks Santa!!

Hello Chris,
It seems a strange coincidence that we got drawn together by Santa.
Yep, that is your photo I stole. Much better than a picture of a cardboard box, I rhought,
It will be a while before I get a chance to work with them but when I do I will post up the results on here.
Cheers!
:D
As for the Deep Ones....well, what does one get the man who has such a vast range in hos store?
Something that isn't in it, of course.
Hope that you like them as I know that you have been considering a bit of Pulp-Cthulhu at some point.
Thanks again,
Paul
And a another huge THANK YOU! to Revfan for organising this again.
:D

Got a parcel in the post today ! Will open it at x mas and post pictures then!
-
I had a box delivered this morning, neatly wrapped in gift paper.
Unfortunately my wife saw it and consequently I have been forbidden to open it until Christmas.......
:-[

I got a present from secret santa today. A very nice infinity sniper and some awesome ancient Greeks. They will go straight into service in my Trojan war project. Danish post had been less than kind to them. So I spend half an hour gluing and retouching paint. But other than that they will fit right with my other Greeks.

I can only echo what DJ has said.
My thoughts and best wishes go out to you and your family at this difficult time.

Wow, sorry to hear that.
Thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
-
Thanks guys.
He was 90.... had a great run. It was his time really, as he was having lots of complications and was "out of it" for the last week or so....
Lets stay cheery though, I don't want to turn the thread into a downer. I just was hoping everyone had received something already so I didn't have to worry too much
So.....
Everybody got something?
-
My condolences.
Either way I don't think you should worry about anything. You have more than done your part. If someone does not post anything or it gets lost in the mail. That is not on you.
-
Almaric
I have been contacted by santa, and he says, don't worry, you got something, and its coming. Problems with the slay or elf strike... regardless, its coming!

Revfan, I am so sorry for your loss.
Santa, no worries. I understand life happens.
-
Sorry to hear of your loss, Revfan. My condolences.
Just wanted to let you know that I received a parcel as well. It's sitting under the Christmas tree waiting for Christmas eve to arrive...
-
My condolences as well.
I'm sure if anything come up, we could work it out amongst ourselves. So don't worry much.
-
Revfan - let me add my voice to those offering condolences.
Santa, thank you for the enormous pile of swag! You must have had an undercover elf taking notes at my FLGS when I last visited - I almost picked up the Wargames Factory survivors sets, lamenting cash-flow issues. And the Hasslefree ladies, the TAG hostage, the Reaper cargo container and the (?) Foundry Rastafarian gangsters will all eventually find their way onto my game table. Such a load of things!
Happy Christmas to all.
-
I opened the second pack today and read the letter which came with it. Apparently Santa had a little trouble with time so one item was sent directly from the manufacturer :)
So the two package is really one package lol

So beside Wilhelm (which is my absolute favourite of the lot :D ), I got some Konflikt '47 figures and Eliza Stone from Artizan. Great gifts and they will fit right in with my existing collections.
Thank you Secret Santa. And Merry Christmas to all!
-
Santa, thank you for the incredible table covering rooftop terreign pieces! I can't wait to game on them.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everybody!
Now... lets see the loot!!!!!
-
A huge "Thank You" to secret santa for my gift. A wonderful box of figures, some cyberpunk scenery pieces and a lovely handstitched ][ dice bag and some dice. (My wife is envious of the stitching skill that went into creating it). Perfect selection of useful pieces for my collections.
And thank you for the kind note too, our best wishes to you and your family also.
Oh....... and chocolates :-*
-
Also....
If anyone has any suggestions on making this bigger/better for next year, don't hesitate to provide constructive criticism!
-
Thank you Santa, what an awesome gift! I must have been a very good boy this year :D

Just got home from family visits.
I don't seem to have received a Secret Santa package. Might have gotten lost in the mail?
Oh well. I hope the one I sent to enjoys their present. That's what matters.

Judging by the drawing I found in my package and the drawings on your blog I've been the lucky one you sent some fantastic miniatures too! ;)
For real, real great mini's! Will get a picture of the loot posted soon, so all the others can see how spoiled I've been! :D
-
Affun
I sent your Seccret S a pm to see what the status was/if they had a tracking number.
Will let you know as soon as I hear anything.
If you are the only one still waiting... I think we are doing pretty good!
Cheers!

........................Everybody reports here in the secret Santa thread when there gift arrives, and what it was, and after everyone gets theirs, we can "reveal" who we were the secret Santa too.................
Almost ready for the New Year and looking through this thread it seems only 13 people received something from Secret Santa. Did the other 11 where dissapointed in what they received or to shamefull for the great gift they got in comparison what they sent ;D (or were they just on holiday; family bussiness or simply didn't thought of it).

I sure hope my gift has arrived safely.

Hi all,
A little while ago I received my Secret Santa gift: a whole bunch of Back of Beyond Chinese :-* :-*
I tried to take a picture and upload it, but after having thrown my pc out of the window in sheer frustration I decided to stop trying for today. I'll try again tomorrow.
Just as last year I really liked this Secret Santa. Count me in next year!
Cheers
Jase

New Year's day, so finally found a bit of time to take a pic :)
Thanks to my Secret Santa Dr Zombie, the below bunch of Fantastical Figures of Fame and Fury landed below my Christmas tree.

Amongst these thrilling characters one can probably distill a lovely bunch of ruffians, a Copplestone axewielding barbarian in the back, some really lovely Oldhammerish orcs and a paladin, a cool Foundry puff-and-slashes orcy bloke, and a very nice convention-only sculpt by Jakob R Nielsen in the front seat.
Lovely stuff, now to get the paint pots out :).
Thanks Santa!
(And apologies for the blurry figs in the background - nex year I'll ask for Taking Pics of Miniatures for Dummies :p.

I got my Santa as well !!! and it is:

Now the question is from which manufacturer are they and which kings and queens are they supposed to be? Who can help?

I got a package today. I can't thank my secret Santa enough for actually going through the trouble of re-sending it, after it apparently got lost in the mail. And I am completely floored by the contents :o A lot of good stuff I can't wait to get painting and playing with.

Inside was a very nice couple of cards, and a haul:

Opening up the bags revealed this bunch of goodies:

I shall endeavour to get them painted up in a timely fashion so they can hit the gaming table. Absolutely thrilled by all of these.
Oh, and as if that wasn't enough I also got a viking from Hasslefree:

Absolutely thrilled by these miniatures - They hit the mark perfectly. Great Kev Adams greenskins, characterful old citadel guys that'll be nice additions to some fantasy-warbands (I am actually working on a clerical/crusade themed one right now, so the flagellants will come in super handy. As will the norman dwarf) and a beastie in the form of the griphon! And to top it off, a HF-mini. Im a huge fan of Kev Whites miniatures, so thats absolutely perfect.
Warm (belated) holiday wishes and huge thanks to my secret santa, and to all of you. (And to revfan for, again, sorting this out)

As it's time for revelations, so glad you liked them! I have zero idea what happened to the first package I sent - it might still be on an exciting adventure in a limbo between Finland and Denmark. With luck it will arrive one day (or is returned to sender), and you'll have a second set with different old lead :D Looking forward to seeing some of those painted!

Anyone else want to reveal who they were the Santa for?
Also, any suggestions to make it better next year???????

Well, myself and Chris Abbey drew each other.
We both figured out easily enough who our Santas were by the gifts sent.
;)

I was the Secret Santa for robh. :)
As for suggestions, maybe starting it two or three weeks earlier would give more time to prepare and send the gifts.

I was Amalric's Santa. Can't wait to see the games you play across the rooftops.
At one point in the project, the dining room table was completely covered with shallow wooden boxes and sheets of brick-print paper. My girlfriend began calling it "Boxville", which was the "working title" until I got it packed up.
I'm so fortunate in her choice of me - she's a professional artist, and fully understands "project madness". (And most of my other forms of madness, as well!!)
She's encouraged me to make my own Boxville, so that's on the To-Do List.

I hope it shows up - A similar package of old lead getting gobbled up by the mysterious ways of the post is quite a tragedy.
I've started on the halfling, as it seems a very manageable place to begin :D
Again, huge thanks.

Sorry for the late post. I received a beautiful package of wrapped presents and a personal letter from Santa. It was very well done and was added to the presents under the tree and opened christmas morning. I got some paints, some hero clicks that are being stripped right now and a thor figure.
Super happy and thank you Santa...well done.
Elton.
