Here starts yet another
distraction project. I'm posting the project here as it will be set on the classic pulp era of 1920/30s, although I intend there to be crossovers with Back of Beyond and Cthulhu.
Initial offerings will be miniatures suitable for exploring either the Arctic wastes or the Himalayas.
To start with, here are the Polar Explorers from Pulp Figures:

Most excellent and as marianas_gamer says dont change a thing with the photography, its very thematic.
-
Bullshott, great minis and picture - that "cold weather haze light" seems perfect IMHO!
To the Mountains of Madness they are ready to go! ;)

Great, Dave.

This thread has been lost in the icy wastes for far too long. In the background I've been painting some more stuff for this project, in order to use this setting with Fistful of Lead rules. So look out for more stuff very soon.
Hmm - Fistful of Ice or Fistful of Snow?
-
Fistful of Frost? ;)

You'll be needing a few walrusii, a bunch of penguins, maybe a killer whale, (a polar bear, maybe?), krill eating whales...
-
Very cool. I like those EMP minis, I might get them myself.

Indeed!
Those muzzles look particularly well done, Dave.

Any adventure in the Arctic needs wolves :)
These are from Warbases, Not the best sculpts, but cheap and they look good when painted :)

You need some Musk Oxen. And a lot - and I mean a LOT - of lemmings! lol Arctic foxes, arctic hares (mainstay to feed the wolves). And caribou. No idea if any of those are available in your scale. But you need them. Adventures in Ellesmere game in the making, no doubt. (well, I'm hoping so)
-
Oh, this project is pretty.
Beautiful work, Bullshott.

Thanks for the ideas. The next lot of wildlife will be aquatic mammals, but the caribou, etc will come in due course

I couldn't resist painting up this lovely HLBS walrus to add to the collection:

That is a very nice model, and you have done it, and the hunter, proud. The walrus looks really “blubbery”.
-
Lovely walrus!
-
Thanks chaps. The walrus is a simple piece, but it was fun researching and painting :)

Have you seen the 1920 piece jakub rozalski has put up on his Facebook page?

Thanks for the link. There are a couple of very atmospheric shots there, that might make useful points of reference. I especially like the especially the Inuit picture.

I finished some yeti for Himalayan adventures. Figures are by Westwind.

Nice work...love the yetis!

Nice work, Dave.

I have forgotten all about these beasties!
I could well ad some to my Palaeo Diet project in future.
Thanks for the reminder.
:D

I liked the idea of the comet stone affecting the tribe.

My painting Mojo has returned, so it's time to introduce some local trouble for my explorers, in the form of a band of Inuit warriors.

These are by Eureka. The only change I've done is to give a club to the chap with a harpoon:

(But you had better explain to that chap on the left that he has got this mask-thing all wrong).
;D
-
Nice work!
-
Lots of great stuff on this thread! Perfect way to cool off during a sweltering summer... lol
Keep them coming! Any games with them, yet?

Thanks for the comments Mike. No games yet, as the majority of this has been my lockdown project (amongst other hobby projects). Terrain will be coming soon.

Sorry for the late question, but, where are the Polar Bears from? I am looking for them but I can't find any
Thanks
-
This stuff all looks good. But methinks yer gonna need more guys to fight that polar bear... :D
-
Still think you need mutant penguins. lol
-
Brilliant thread with lots to love!
