Larger than its supposed to be, but hopefully recognizable to anyone familiar with the Ma.K. universe. Trying to make a PKA Heinrich to run as a heavy armored fighting suit or light Walker in K47. Will post progress shots as progress happens... Thanks for looking.

Interesting, looking forward to seeing how this progresses..

Waiting on some more bits to arrive in the post... Here is progress so far.

Her is a Ma.K. suit I built a while ago, kinda the look I'm going for.
-
At first, I thought they were plastic eggs, but those are 'copter models? Brilliant! :-*
Doug
-
Are you using 1/48 helis as a basis for the suits? Or 1/72?
-
Great work so far, and that Ma.K. build is fantastic! 8)
Care to share your parts list for the most recent build?
-
Are you using 1/48 helis as a basis for the suits? Or 1/72?
Look at the one next to the Micron. I'm thinking 1/100 or smaller.
Doug
-
Doing it old-school! Much respect to you sir!!! :-* 8) :-*
Will follow this with enthusiasm. :D
-
Hey all, thanks for all the enthusiasm! Parts list so far...1/35 melamine armored fighting suit. It's a Stahl Democratic republic suit from the Ma.K. universe,. Hasawagawa makes a hard plastic one, but you are more likely to get the cheapo plastic trading kit, available on hobby link Japan. www.hlj.com
1/72 italeri ah-6.
Random bits and bobs that I haven't figured out yet.... The arms, legs and plate armor are from the Ma.K kit, the hull if from the helo...need to detail the interior and add some stuff to the hull, but it should be pretty straight forward...will post more progress pics as progress happens... I have some random Gundam greeblies on the way from HLJ to build up the back and the interior, so I am waiting on the post man.....(or woman, post person?)
-
1/72 italeri ah-6.
Wow! When I'm wrong! ::)
DO keep us informed.
Doug
-
Do you collect Ma.K. or is it more for this one project?
Here 3 of my first Kits they i build...

Nice! Love the grosserhund! I am a big Ma.K. builder, I have always loved the look of the Stahl AFS's but it's hard to get them in the right scale for gaming. I would love to make some in 1/48, but I fear it is beyond my abilities. :'(
-
for gaming, i would take in 1:35 scale. not the problem with the scratchbuilding.
here two shops they have the kits and the plastic collectible figures.
http://www.robotines.com/en/204-scale-1-35
robotines is in spain. you can write in english, no problem and they ship fast and shiping cost are ok.
my favotite when i order standard ma.k. kits in 1:20
http://www.coolkits.de/kits/mak-kits.html#3q_hornisse
willy from cool kits has a lot of standard and rare collectible stuff.
he is from my old hometown. ask him when you´re looking for some special stuff.

Still picking at these. Having a hell of a time finding some robotic hands for them... I ordered some 1/144 Gundam hands off HLJ and they are waaaay to big, any ideas where I could find something?
-
Maybe something like these maxmini power gloves cut off at wrist / elbow?
http://maxmini.eu/conversion-bits/torsos-and-arms/power-gloves-bits
-
Thanks for the link! Not quite sure those will work. The gauntlet bit that goes around the buckles is a bit bulky... I wish the Gundam hands came in smaller sizes! They are perfect, but way to big ( will try and post a pic). I don't want the space Marine power fist look, more. Mechanical manipulator/ Gundam / diving hard suit look....Think I may be scratching something... :'(

-
Definitely too big :?
-
These are really cool models. I love what you have been doing with these. The petrol punk stylings with more realistic military aesthetics are just awesome. The detailing on the finished models you posted are fantastic.

I think I can scratch some manipulators like these...
-
Not quite what I wanted, but some claws are better than none. Seriously can't find anything! The closest I have come is anvil industries cybernetic hands and arms, but they are quite a ways from perfect...Thoughts?
-
Difficult to gauge exact size you're after but try plastic GW terminator hands. Arms are Cheaply available on eBay, newer ones are even slightly bigger maybe.
Then maybe cut lengthways to reduce the number of fingers, cartoonists always draw less fingers as it looks better somehow.
Great idea about the bodies!
-
I actually like the awkward looking manipulator claws you posted in the last image. I felt that they suited the period pulpy robots kind of style. Have you had a look at the claws on the medical droid from SW:ESB (21B)? You could probably scratchbuild crude claws like these (or similar) and have any size you want.
-
Beyond off brand GW parts (which are perhaps too human looking and unfortunately I'm not really caught up on which companies are still in business for those - Chapterhouse, Puppetwar, Zinge Industries come to mind), I suppose maybe generic Gundam bits could work? Mantic Games robot hands may be suitable as well (individual robots can be picked up from Dreadball IIRC). The problem I suppose is finding period appropriate ones. :/
Yes, the three digit "hands" do look better than five digit ones though (maybe even two digit "snippers" would work). You could probably make some from scratch with a bit of plasticard and rod, though I'm not sure how durable they would be at that scale (depending on what you're doing with them , or if the thing's just going to sit on a shelf).
-
For claws/snippers you may find some interesting bits if you look for things like 3rd party ork bionic arms/claws?
Some examples include:

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I will keep you all posted. Expecting our second kiddo here soon , so not sure how fast this project is going to progress.

Got some more work done on these little buggers... The little one is sleeping more and I can sneak off to the work bench on occasion.

Looking mighty fine! 8)
1/35 scale or thereabouts?
-
They started out as 1/32 trading kit Mel's. Kept the arms and legs (mostly) and bashed the torso out of 1/72 italeri helocopters. Ment to be 28mm when all is said and done.

Thanks Wolt,. I think I'm just about done with the construction of the various sub assembly's, trying to find time for final assembly and stowage. Then paint! I don't think I'm going to win any awards for speed on this build. Thanks for looking! C and C is always appreciated!

Very good start.

Thanks dudes... The camo turned out pretty good, chipping got a little heavy for my taste, sometimes it's hard to control. Trying to dial it back at the moment... Filters and decals and stuff will help me thinks. Thanks for looking!

I just realized I forgot to glue the radio Ariel's on... Not done!!!
-
So, so nice! Lovely suits and a beautiful mat for them to run around upon! 8) 8) :-*
Bravo!
-
Nice job, and so fast.
I still have not finished any RTB01s yet....
-
Really nice models, and the final set piece photos are very nicely done too. Well done!
I didn’t know about Mr Surface, worth a dabble I think. Liquid green is okay but not quite there for me.
Any more robots pending? I do have a soft spot for big bots :)
-
I'm trying to hunt down some of the old Dust Heinrich Walker's to bash into something cool, mabey working something out of the new bandai at-st kits as well, but for now I am focusing on scenery... Building a mighty Forrest and some Charlie foxtrot buildings so the killer kans have something to fight over...
-
Sterling work, love the finished result.

An ingenious scratch/kit-bash project. I like the outcome. Contrary to so many Weird WW2 walkers, the design is believable.
One thing that immediately popped into my mind was Zimmerit, the anti-magnetic-mine protection. Well, perhaps these suits are small enough, alert enough, and agile enough so that it's not needed. Just would have made a cool, German style look.
-
Mabey on the next batch... :). Can't take credit for the design, these are based off a design of Kow yokoyama from his Ma.K. universe.
