Title: 15mm Star Trek Villains Added to my Collection!
Post by: Oldben1 on December 14, 2016, 02:41:16 AM
My small project continues.  I built some new alien terrain, small scenic items that I can add to my existing collection.  I tried making them look 'cheap', like they were made in the 1960's at Desilu studios.  The shuttle is a desktop toy from Chapters.  All the miniatures are from GZG (except one) and were painted by Calimero. The Romulans were painted to look like the Romulans of the 1960's, and the Klingons to match more with the modern style of Klingons.  I like them a little fiercer looking.

Great work! I look forward to seeing more and definitely not stealing any of your ideas for myself  ;)

I'm using the Astro miniatures AWay team rules with a few modifications.  My 9 year old son and I play together so I've simplified things quite a bit.

Those are Kra'Vak filling in as Klingons, right?  Didn't realize they worked so well for that role.

The terrain looks wonderful, you've very much captured the original series feel there.

Thats a pretty awesome collection of minis. But what did you take for Klingons OR: are these Kra'Vak, and if yes, what are Kra'Vak and who sells them?

They're new-sculpt Kra'Vak from Ground Zero Games eg:

I just can't decide if he did any conversion work on them or it's all in the paint work.  Surprisingly effective either way, since they're sculpted to look like Predators, not Klingons.

There is no conversion needed.  As they are so small it's hard to see all the detail in the faces.  Calimero did a great job!

That's a great use of the kra'vak - they're some of my favourites of the new GZG ranges, so detailed.

I'm looking for a 15mm 'away team'- they don't need to match Star Trek directly, but I don't want them to be as militaristic as most of the 15mm out there. Seems a gap in the market, particularly since Astro stopped.

Nice work on the scenic elements! I see you did some change to the figures bases to match them. Looking at the figures, I can also see some small errors I’ve made lol

Anyhow, they still look great on the game table ;)

The bases are mine, a blend of rural and sci fi.  I think they look great!

Maybe some of these superheroes in bodysuits would work for Next Generation style future pyjamas?

Thanks, that's actually a really great idea - they'd make good 'dollies' for tweaking.
