Title: Question regarding League of Augsburg miniatures
Post by: CaptainHaddonCollider on December 19, 2016, 09:11:11 PM
Hello gents and ladies,
I was browsing around the league of augsburg webshop, and suddenly found myself wanting to take the plunge into 18th century gaming. Although I realise that the battalion packs are supposed to cover a single unit as shown in the pictures, I was wondering about the number of pikemen compared to the musketeers. Does anyone here know what the ratio in the packs are? There seem to be only four or so pikemen in the units, but then, the units seem to be a few miniatures short compared to the description.
In case anyone is wonder what I'm on about: http://www.leagueofaugsburg.com/shop/product-460.html

Thank you for your time!

I think you get actual packs of figures so you get the number of pike in a standard pack. I think that is 5.

I believe that is correct, at least for the 20 figure Russian firing line set that I have.  It has 10 muskets (2 packs) 5 command (1 pack) and 5 pike (1 pack).

The regiments are tailored to their game Beneath the Lily Banners. These rules are set at a time where the pike was being phased out and all musket regiments were beginning to dominate the battlefield. In the rules a unit with a pike company is represented by a single rank of pikes placed behind the command stand (or moved to the front to represent the repel-cavalry formation). Therefore you don't need as many pike figures as you would for ECW or 30YW etc.
