Title: Rogue Stars - tell us about your squad
Post by: Jiron on December 21, 2016, 09:31:44 PM
Hi,
I am very excited about Rogue Stars as it allows you to play basically anything out of Sci-fi genre. I would like to start a topic where we could share the squad ideas. I have been considering my favourite miniatures and came up with these concepts:

Space Marketing Working Group
Theme: Merchants
Story: The team of several tradesmen, each specialized in different commodities decided to work together. They travel the sector on their spaceship and do business. But it's not really safe to transport valuable commodities like this...
Style: I really like HF Mini modern adventurers. I have several of them, not painted yet. The group would be lightly armed and armoured (mostly with pistols only) but with versatile training and few nice gadgets.

Order of Immaculate Light
Theme: Psionics
Story: There is a temple at Psiap, where the monks live. They live in peace and practice their psionic abilities to read the future and secrets of universe. To keep their bodies fit, they train mysterious martial arts. If they deem they should intervene somewhere in the world, they send a few masters of Psionic abilities to solve the matter.
Style: I have quite nice collection of martial arts monks I tend to use in every game. Now I found I can use them in Sci-fi too!

Thinking about running an Inquisitor and her retinue. I would probably use a Sister of Battle, a third party Sister Repentia that I have and possibly a couple of my Eschers.

In addition to the Non-Coms from CP Models I mentioned to you in my thread, you might also try the Ral Partha Shadowrun figures still available from Iron Wind Metals. This fellow might be a good client figure:

For a more contemporary/near-future look, there's the Banker from Spectre Miniatures:

The banker is nice. With some upgrades in his brief case and a younger head he could pass as a tech-savant

Hi Jiron, wouldn't the Merchants need one bodyguard in the group? Perhaps a robot? Or are they risk takers out for a bit of a jape and enjoy the danger?

I like the idea of both of these groups.

I have a number of scifi Metal Magic miniatures-

Combined with my deadzone collection and SD-3000 miniatures I intend to create somthing unique that ends up being its own setting.

I like the idea of both of these groups.

I went to detail and enjoyed them being build. I got one guy, which is the pilot of the freighter and the most skilled fighter (he also looks strikingly similar to Snake Plissken) with SMG but the rest are armed with pistols and are well trained (marksman 2). On the other hand, each of them is exceptionally well trained on their field. There is a Tech guy, Medical guy, Guns guy and Personal Security Consultant (2m/100kg of muscles!). I'm gonna play them sneaky and shoot only when you can count on the shot. :-)

I have only played one game so far http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=96609.0
but I think you are right to play them sneaky- combat is dangerous!

If my assumptions would be wrong, I can always pick up my old Star Wars Miniatures models and make the squad of Battle Droids led by General Grievous! Or a band of Stormtroopers with Darth Vader. Or a clone commando...

You can but Vader would feel underpowered.

Well we played our first game and decided we should scale it down until we get the rules imbedded into our brains, so I;ve created a 3 figure 100 point squad, and here they are.
