Not touched my BoB stuff since the LPL and although Dodge has been tempting me to get some Russians with his recent posts I was being strong and just sticking to the dozen or so other periods/theatres I am currently dabbling with. But no, someone had to suggest reading Conways Caspacian novel and I end up doing this for my Chinese Warlord.

I did enjoy the novel and ended up with two copies so if anybody wants an ex library paperback copy for the cost of postage (£1.50?) give me a shout.
Cheers Svennn

Bugger the book - tell us about the train!!!! :o

That's great! Throw a Chinese warlord next to it for scale and post another pic please!

What he said! That's awesome!

Bloody hell ,
that is fantastic,
make ? where , who, how, what ? lol
I'm reading the first one at the mo, with the second already in place.
Very good stories

It was me - and that makes an awesome 'Dragon'. There must be all sorts of pulp/BoB figures out there to represent the unsavoury White Russian crew. Now who wants to model General Mok's singular method of execution using the train? - a novel (if rather gory) departure from the Damsel in distress tied to the tracks
-
Btw, I LOVE the camo scheme. I made an interesting discovery trying to recreate a scheme from a b/w oblique photo of an armoured train from the Polish Front in one of the Osprey Vanguard 'Armoured Units of the RCW' - the splodges turned out to be trees! Now my 15mm 'Comrade Blyukher' (still w.i.p) sports this livery (http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x200/sukhe_bator/Comrade%20Blyukher/ComradeBlyukher.jpg~original)

WOW :-*
Great stuff. Same question as above is it bought or scratchbuilt.
One question. How does it move. Does it attach to a locomotive?
-
That my friend is a fab example of a scratchbuild - awesome work Svennn ;D Almost makes me wish I did 28mm. Very inspiring work
-
Thanks for the comments. It is part of PP-52 Pilsudczyk??? if anybody knows what that is??
The pros -
It is skirted so I did not have to worry about wheels.
I found plan drawings to work from.
I liked the design and balanced layout.
The cons -
I think it may be WWII?? but I dont care too much
Even scaled to 1/50-1/55th it is still huge
I have not got much else done in the last couple of weeks

Impressive stuff Svennn. Nicely done. You have got that curved shape spot on.
-
Wow! :-*
So this was the secret beastie you made the rivet strips for, eh?
Utterly fantastic.

I shouldn't worry too much...these projects tend to take on a life of their own. It's still a fab build. The main gun turrets look very much like the Putilov 76mm guns on my 'Comrade Blyukher'. 'The General's Envoy' is set in 1927, so in the middle of the Interwar period. The Dragon had a very misc bunch of armament, so old and new would be combined. Earlier Armoured trains tended to look less streamlined, so if you are worried you could always couple the gun car up to a more angular clunkier-looking train and achieve the same effect
-
That's absolutely amazing!

A polish armored train, PP is short for Pociag Pancemy (don't ask me the meaning!). So it should have seen action in 1939 and perhaps afterwards in german use.
[Edit]http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi%C5%82sudczyk_(poci%C4%85g_pancerny) Sorry, I don't understand one word of this, but it should give you the trains history.[/Edit]

Errrm... "pociąg pancerny" means "Armoured Train". ;)
Excellent model you´ve got there, nicely built and very nicely painted. It´s remarkable how similar this design is to the Russian "Orlik" type and the Italian twin-turreted armoured motor coach built in WW2...

Fan-bloody-tastic!
That's a great model svenn. At first I thought it was the Zaamurets - the rail cruiser.
Pilsudczyk was the state of the art mid/late 1930's Polish train which , if I recall had two such artillery cars sandwiching an armoured loco. Check out this link for more info;
http://derela.republika.pl/armtrain.htm
I think Pociag Pancerny means "armoured train", at leats I'm sure pancerny is "armoured" as the Polish armoured troops were "bron pancerny".
Looking at your wip pics it looks like you're building up and down from the footplate level - best way to ensure all the subsequent vehicles line up.
I guess from the above comments I'm out of the closet - yes I'm a railway modeller too!
Again Svenn - great work, can't wait to see the full train.

Man, people who can make these frameworks out of plastic card amaze me. Nine times out of ten I can't even cut a square from the stuff!
Thanks for the additional pics.
-
Amen to that Mancha,
why do you think I model medieval castles etc. - NO RIGHT ANGLES!
Seriously though. I'd love to be able to scratchbuild vehicles etc. I've always fancied doing an Garford-Putilov gun car or an Austin-Kegresse in 15mm but they are way beyond my capabilities
-
A complete inspiration from start to finish. Excellent work.
-
Great Model!!Love IT :-* :-*You should read the forth book in the series it has airships!! lol lol

Can't find any words ... ;D :o :-*
why do I play other period ? It is a waste of time ;)
-
That is amazing! I've just started reading the novel and that is exactly the kind of thing that springs to mind, seriously cool!
-
okay youve hooked me what novel and who writes it
if the book inspired that great model im interested in reading it
cheers

Thanks for all the great comments - you are egging me on to finish the engine and even start another gun carriage but I just cant find the time at the mo'.
The book is "The Generals Envoy" by Anthony Conway. Its part of a series around a character called Caspasian and I would recommend it. I have not read any of the others which I believe are set in other locations but have seen many good words written about them. Think Flashman in the early 20th Century.

Books great (thanks for that Svenn)!
This project, however, is outstanding - directly responsible for my new collection of odd Chinese pirates, soldiers and explorers :)
-
The first in the series, the Viceroy's Captain, is set on the North West Frontier, the Second, The General's Envoy, is in China and the Third, which I haven't read yet but is waiting for me to get to, is The Colonel's Renegade and is set in Egypt. I think that's all of them but I'm not sure, I can't find any more and the only place I managed to get them was Amazon.
-
There seems to be another, the brigadier's outcast
-
Yeah you're right, just found it. Apparently the series was dropped after that one, despite a 5th manuscript being in completion and plans for 20+ novels. How dissapointing!
-
fantastic work.
