Title: South American Liberators
Post by: pete17 on January 09, 2017, 10:01:09 PM: Hi, I've recently taken an interest in the south American Wars of independence however can't make my mind up on whether to go Bolivar or San Martin or early period or late 15 or 28mm. To help me with this I picked up the two Liberators books from Simon at Parkfield who also sent me a few samples from his South American range which I painted up to help with my decision; sadly it hasn't and I do like the look of the later dragoons wearing helmets. Does anyone have any links to pics or information regarding later period uniforms they could share.

In the meantime here's some pics of the Parkfield miniatures I completed, my impression of them is a decent figure, keenly priced, very robust metal and easy to paint. I did stretch the bayonets a bit with a pair of long nose pliers as I thought they looked a little short. Overall I'm quite pleased with the way they came out, Cheers Pete

Post by: carlos marighela on January 10, 2017, 12:28:22 PM: If you want smaller brigade sized battles and more visual impact then go with Bolivar and the north. Orinoco produce a superb range of 28mm figures and you'll find a good selection of uniform plates (enough to get you started) on their blog site. The guy behind Orinoco is also a fellow member of LAF.

Post by: jambo1 on January 10, 2017, 05:59:20 PM: They look very nice indeed, Parkfield minis are really decent and they are good to deal with. Interesting period to game and one that shpuld have more adherents, all the fun of Napoleonics but smaller armies. :)
