Taken some test shots of my Burugundians, trying to get to grips with the camera.
Theres a trade-off with maximising depth of fields and focus (it seems to me) and I need to hone this issue. However, here are some - any similarities to compositions in the Perry's Masters in Miniatures' book is purley coincidental. ;)

They're already looking pretty good as is. Love the burial scene :)
-
Nice. You've been working on this collection for how long? It's been nice watching it grow.
-
Inspirational!
Im taking my time and zooming in close and finding all sorts of great ideas for conversions, many of which I'm going to have to try myself...
Who made the buildings? Are they from Grandmanner, perhaps?
-
Lovely, just lovely :-*
-
Those look great! I'll have to have a better look later when I can get the computer off the kids.
-
Saw these on FB earlier :)
Splendid work as always :-* :-*

totally inspirational, amazing pictures!!!!
-
Wow very very nice, the shrine in the burial scene is something I've not seen done before, mind you I don't get out a lot :D
I should also like to know if you bought or made the thatched buildings
Once again wow
-
Lovley work, the use of scenes & vignettes really sets off the minis. I like the burial scene particularly.
-
They look sweet, well done.
The background, is that a photo back drop? I noticed the crease and was wondering if it was and where you bought it?
-
very very nice painting and really good pictures :-* :-* :-*
-
This is really impressive, well done!
-
A lovely army indeed.
-
Splendid photos and minis!
-
Lovely painting! :-* I love the composition of the photos too!
-
Just stunning. The burial is a terrific touch.
-
Many thanks for the comments!
To answer some of the questions:
Buildings - are all Hudson and Allen. Lots of detail and a joy to paint and available from Ben at Vatican Enterprises. http://www.wargamescenics.com/
Backdrop - is a model railway background. Cannot recall from where, but its made in Germany and is a long photographic one, chosen for lack of modern buildings on it (the join is actually the hardboard behind, not the picture itself), I think you attach with wallpaper paste.
Simon.

Fantastic display! Very inspiring! :-* :-*

Beautiful work, I especially like the burial scene - unusual idea and very well composed.
-
How exactly did I manage to miss these ?
I could wax lyrical on the pics for paragraphs at a stretch so I'll keep it short and pithy :
MORE ! MORE, PLEASE ! ;D

Ok you'll have to help me out here.
Did your order these from the Vatican Enterprises site you just linked? They are all in dollars, and to be honest it's not the most awe-inspiring web layout... Did you have them shipped form the US?
He links to E-Bob Miniatures as a UK supplier, but frustratingly it seems all links to the buildings on the E-Bob website lead to the same dead end.
Though looking through that catalogue, they look absolutely fantastic.... and those prices look ridiculously good! Almost too good to be true....
Any tips on getting hold of them? I want!!!!
-
Beautiful army :-*
-
Superb work and photos Simon. Best I've seen in awhile.

I've sent you a PM - you need to build in costs of importing items from USA into EU, as HM Customs will slap a charge on. My last order this was approx 24% of the value of the order.
Shame no one stocks them in UK/EU.

I've been a follower of your blog for quite some time now and I always keep wondering what your fully dressed up battlefield looks like. This army is amazing and I like the set ups. I also do hope you get around to doing that swiss army you have been hoping to do.
-

As it happens, I bought a few of these Hudson and Allen buildings when they were last available in the U.K. and I'm sure I've got a couple of the smaller ones still left.
Drop me a PM if you're interested and I'll see if I can look them out this weekend.
-
Is your artillery park all Perry miniatures? I like the look of them, but I just spent half an hour cleaning flash from 4 crewmen, and looking at the piece itself I can see I have a LOT of work ahead of me before it's ready to paint. So I'm kind of interested in possible alternatives....
-
Aphillathehun - yes all the crews are Perry figures (couple of plastics in there and some conversions).
If any more castings are real horrors, I'd suggest dropping the Perrys an email - they'll want to know for their own 'quality control' and may well offer you replacements.

Absolutely FanF...ingtastic, more of that pulease!

Wonderful scenes Simon. Almost like paintings of the period :)
-
Beautiful paint jobs and the photo staging is superb!
-
Fantastic to see them "in situ."
-
Those are great. They remind me so much of the Perry book.
I think the last one with all the pike shafts in the background is my favourite. But its pretty close with several of the others.
-
Thumbs up, thats for sure, maaaan I love the scene telling such history, awesome!

Awesome! :o

Sumptuously! The sides of the base spoil the whole look! Can remove the chamfer bit?

-
Very good painting, and the multi-base is a really nice idea ! :-*
-
Hi
Forgot to show that the figures are individually based, so that I can change the positioning etc. All mdf very nicely made to my spec by Warbases (great service - highly recommended).
