Title: Solo and Horror Deck question
Post by: Doug ex-em4 on January 10, 2017, 11:09:41 PM
Simple question. Can you combine the Solo deck with the Horror deck to play a solo horror game? Well, obviously you can, but would it work?

I assume you are not suggesting mixing the two decks together into one, but rather using both decks in one game.  Sure, it works just fine...I've done this several times.  (The two decks were designed to be compatible.)
Can be kinda scary, though...all alone...with the Horror...late at night...in the dark...

100% correct. The Solo Deck and Horror Deck are designed to be used at the same time.

However, the Solo Deck does replace the Fortune Deck for 1-player games - so you won't use a Fortune Deck and Solo Deck at the same time.

Having used the Solo and Horror decks together, I would note that some Horror cards require you to discard a Fortune card to avoid the Horror effect. Obviously, if you're playing Solo, as you're not using the default Fortune deck, expect to suffer some horror effects!  lol

Quite true...but remember, when using the Solo Deck, any Solo card which is attached to a character in your league counts as a Fortune Card in your hand for the purpose of discard effects.  This means you can even ditch a negative card stuck on one of your characters to fulfill a discard requirement.

Are the Solo rules still offered as a free download when the deck is bought?

Doug

EDIT Just checked on Sally 4th's site and I see they are included.....

Yes, and both the Horror and Solo rules are included, along with copier-friendly b/w copies of both decks,
in the Tomb of the Serpent expansion book.
