Hello all;
Just a quick one that I was hoping some of you might fancy helping me out with! my name is Jamie Gordon...you might already vaguely recognise me as an occasional freelance writer for Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy magazine and a few other bits around the community.
Well after years of being involved in the hobby I have finally managed to secure a contract with Osprey Games to write a set of rules set during the early medieval period, needless to say I am chuffed about this and am currently busy penning these rules.
Essentially these will be designed to cover smaller scale skirmishes during the period in question with a few interesting additions.
Anyway I was wondering if any of you good people fancied volunteering to playtest the rules in beta form. This is a little way off yet; but I'd like a list of names so that I can get the game tested as soon as it is ready. Brutal and honest feedback would be greatly welcome!!
Just so you can get a better idea about my hobby perspective my blog can be found at: https://classicastartes.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1 (https://classicastartes.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1)
So..... any willing volunteers!?
Cheers;
Legio

Thanks guys! I have added you all and PM'd you!

I'm interested in these 'interesting additions', too. :)

Pm sent... I hope so :)

Sounds interesting.
But don't Osprey already do a set of medieval skirmish rules - Lion Rampant?
PLEASE tell me it's not going to be another game with each side comprising just 5 or 6 models per side? PLEASE! Osprey are falling too much into that trap.
How do you envisage your rules differing from Lion Rampant? I don't mean in the mechanisms - I'm sure they will be totally different - but how will it differ in its scope, visuals, and appeal?
I know it's early days, but you must have some ideas from when you first spoke to Osprey.
I have to say these questions occurred to me as well. As the focus is early medieval, presumably there is going to be some aspect to the rules specific to this period; I am curious to find out what.

Thanks to all the volunteers who PM'd me over the weekend. I have added your details to my list.
As for the nature of the game I can't say too much at the moment; however I am able to confirm it is at the smaller end of the skirmish scale compared to rules like Lion Rampant.
I will be able to reveal more as the project progresses!

Awesome. 8)

Sounds interesting. Let's hope its better than Rogue Stars... Much anticipated but turns out to be overly complicated tosh!

How is the project moving along?
-
Hi all;
This project is moving along a pace. I have been playtesting it locally in draft form and the core mechanics are working well so hopefully I can get the first full draft complete in the next few weeks for those of you who have volunteered to test the beta as it were. If you're still interested let me know and I will email you the final 'first draft' once I have proof read it.
Cheers

I didn't see a pre-order for this game; what is it called?
-
Very interesting threat.
I am preparing a North crusades bunch of miniatures, sadly I can't help you with the playtesting, but I would like to know the number of miniatures required, if in the combat both sides will roll dices or just one, and if the stats are modifiable to create your very own troops.
Just this.

Do you need one more playtester? I only saw this thread today. If so, I would gladly be added to the list. Let me know and I'll PM you my email.
-
Hi all;
Yes this is Outremer: Faith and Blood that has just gone on pre-order from Osprey.
I can answer some questions but not all of them until I have had the go ahead, but here's a few bits.
It is a true skirmish level game designed for 25-28mm models, with one model representing one fighter. Each fighter will be unique and may be developed, equipped and progressed in a variety of ways. Total number of models is dependant on troop type and equipment taken but will be between 4-14 fighters (as stated previously it is a true skirmish game).
I will be doing some updates on my blog:

That's it for now ...
Volunteer play testers PM me your details.
