Did a quick paint job on some left over Tau, from my misguided foray into 40K, to use as Star Cops. I am pleased with the paint job since I knocked them out in 2 evening sessions between packing for a big family trip.

My wife, the mazing woman that she is, rescued this toy APC that a friend was tossing out cause her son did not play with it anymore. When I saw it I was delighted that she had gotten it for me to use for wargaming and not for my 2 year old son, so I did not have to steal it from him.
The size is great for a Sci-Fi vehicle and the canopy opens up and I can fit models on 20mm bases inside. I'll have to modify the cab so it looks to scale though. It does have this hole on top where there use to be something, probably a gun. I'm not sure how I'll utilize it just yet. I could make it the Star Cops mobile command vehicle or make a crane to go on top and use it as an outpost or spaceport work vehicle. I'm open to suggestions if you have any.

Ooh that's lovely that is. And your Tau Star Cops look great.

Personally, if I was me, I'd remove the cab window frame (it doesn't have the same aesthetic as the rest of the vehicle and that bit looks the wrong scale!) and cover it with a scratch built cab. Maybe do an Aliens style APC front with a half turret, half cab look? The only other thing I think it needs are different wheels. They're a good size, but don't have enough tread. You may find some cheap replacements on eBay? Otherwise, cracking find! You don't have to do much to that! Your wife is well trained! ;)

Nice painting on those Tau. As for the APC, why not remove the wheels and transform it in a flying vehicle?

I had the same though last night. Might try and get another one and make one into a shuttle and the other a land vehicle. Either way it will just be a pice of terrain or objective. If I could get my hands on 2 more I'd make up one for the Star Cops, one as a construction vehicle, and one as a shuttle.

SPACE NECROMANCY!!!!
Any news on the amazing APC?

Haven't touched it. But now that you reminded me I'll have to get back on it.

Glad to hear it isn't fully abandoned xD

Your Star Cops are very well done indeed.
-
Thanks guys. I feel motivated to get back on it. I have lost some interest in the Rouge Star rules system but will probably use all this for Galactic Heroes which is my new go to sci-fi rules.

That's a very cool toy. Looks like a greeblied up version of the old Action Force apc, or irl the French VAB. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for one of these!

I still need to decide what to do with the whole on top. I could cover it with a turret, crane, or hatch, or open it up to make an open top storage bay. What do you all think?
-
Personally I would go with a hatch.

For all those interested, I started a separate thread to follow the progress of the toy conversion. http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=118365.0 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=118365.0)
