Title: HLBS?
Post by: swiftnick on February 24, 2009, 05:39:06 PM
Hello there,
I want to top up my Great White North figs before they dissapear. But the HLBS website seems to have vanished. I am hoping its just a computer problem. Does anybody know if they are having problems.

I noticed that too. I was wanting to order a few bits and pieces before they were removed.

No, no, not at all. I think we suspect the same thing, Ray.

Damned shame.

I think it's just web issues. My understanding was that they were dropping 28mm to focus on 40mm. I just ordered from them a few days ago without any problems.

According to RLBPS: NOTE AS OF MARCH 30 TH 09 HLBSC IS GOING TONOLONGER PRODUCE ANY OF THIER 28MM RANGES SO GET THEM WHILE YOU CAN. IT IS TIME TO QUIT PROCRASTINATING BEFORE THEY ARE GONE!

Seems to me like you should still have a few weeks to place an order for them.

Actually, I know someone very well who might be interested in picking up at least some of their lines, but I know nothing about what they're asking for them, whether they'll sell them, etc.

When I did an HLBS dinosaur order last month, I asked them about continued availability of the 28mm stuff - they said there was interest and a possible buyer, but gave no details.

DZ (DeeZee, sometimes) has HLBS' earlier prehistoric animal/dino range already (available thru Wargames Illustrated's Shop (http://www.wargamesillustrated.net/shop.asp)) so perhaps they'll pick the next round of discontinued beasties up too?

Unless I misread it, Recreational Conflict is picking up these ranges: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=8789.msg103588#msg103588 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=8789.msg103588#msg103588)

I'm hoping we'll see some of the ranges that have disappeared as well. I'd love to have one of their armored trains, but I've missed out every time they've been around.

 :)

Just received the following email from Richard of HLBS...

Quote
Dear Ray,

Just looked on the Lead adventure Forum and noticed we seem to have disappeared. I've just looked and we have. I've no idea what's happened but I can't do anything until the morning. but we are still her in the real world. Normal service will return ASAP. but if you could post a message for me I'd be grateful.

All the best
Richard

Trolling for flying fish?  ;)  I think you mean 'bated'.  There's a big difference.  :D

Just an update...

Seems the ISP folks for the HLBS web site have gone AWOL.  Richard told me he will be changing his ISP, so folks need to have a bit of patience until he can get everything up and running again.

He realizes this is costing him sales, so I would imagine it will be as soon as possible.

Glad to hear they haven't shut down the 28mm business early. Too bad about their ISP provider. Seems to be happening to folks a lot lately!

It can get really tough for smaller hosting firms, especially in an economy like this. I worked for a mom and pop company that literally closed up overnight the last time the economy went south. Still, good to hear they're still selling the 28's, I have a few areas that still need fleshing out for my GWN forces. Of course if Recreation Conflict and / or Tiger picks them up it won't be an issue. On a side note I saw that North Star has what looks like the HLBS 42cm Krupp mortar, are they now producing that? If not I may have to pick up one of those as well.
