Please help me with an ongoing project.
In previous threads, I have explained that I am looking to update my painting guides and make them more general in appeal.
I am going to start with WW2 Germans. I want to define the best / most popular figures.
I may make a survey later, but first I need your help to identify the candidates.
I have made a list of German ww2 figures and need your opinions
1. Are these good ranges?
2. Am I missing any outstanding figures?
Here are the old painting guides.
Artizan Guides are here
http://www.artizandesigns.com/painting-guides.php (http://www.artizandesigns.com/painting-guides.php)

Looking forward to this, thanks for all your hard work.
In 15mm there is also Forged in Battle and Eureka and in 6mm there is Adler and Bacchus too.
Thanks again, Bill

Cp miniatures do some great 20mm and some 28mm Germans too
-
In 28mm, if you can get hold them, there's also "Battle Honours". They have a bunch of interesting stuff -- some of the poses are very good, some are a bit exaggerated. They are a decent fit with Black Tree's figures.
Another big range not mentioned is "West Wind". In particular their separate head system allows members of units to be individualised and is useful for things like making more obvious NCO figures. The infantry works well with BTD but their vehicles are VERY small at 1/60.
-
you can add the wargames Foundry Germans ... nice minis
-
I think that the Heer46 figure ranges (though quite small) are worth considering, his Kharkov 43 range is excellent.

Hi Mick,
Here are a couple of ranges I like, all 20mm.
Early War Miniatures: http://earlywarminiatures.com/
Elheim Figures: https://www.elhiem.co.uk/
Capitan/Warmodelling: http://shop.capitangames.com/index.php?id_category=56&controller=category&id_lang=7
PSC:http://theplasticsoldiercompany.co.uk/
Grubby/Brittannia: http://www.grubbytanks.com/
Warsquad/The BaggageTrain: http://the-baggagetrain.com/epages/84d5106b-5668-4250-9f87-3aaa606a5389.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/84d5106b-5668-4250-9f87-3aaa606a5389/Categories/c0f82517af0829daac3a6cf82e9ecc1e/278ad0cfcad3d73c25a7c2b789bb1335
Warsquad are quite old and quirky, I have a lot of them and really appreciate the sculpting.
Cheers,
Thomas

For 20mm 1/72 Pegasus and Caesar.
-
Command Decision line in 15mm from Old Glory is nice.
-
In 15mm my number one choice of figures are Peter Pig, although increasingly I use PSC.
In 20mm FAA are very nice, but I am still a sucker for plastic figures, Airfix, Revell, Italian (and these days, HaT) as they remind me of being a kid:)
-
Agreed, if you are including 15mm you have to show the very extensive Peter Pig range.
Wonderful figures.
-
The Assault Group do some nice 28mm WW2 Germans.
-
Artizan are still my favourite WWII Germans though Crusader still have a lot of appeal.
-
Got to add Peter Pig to the 15mm list

-
20 mm AB figures for me!
-
Command Decision line in 15mm from Old Glory is nice.
The same range is available through Skytrex.
Add QRF to the list of 15mm figures. Essex also have a small 15mm WWII range.
Although Eurkea have lovely figures, they don't have 15mm WWII Germans. Italians, US, Chinese, Russian, Australian, & Gurkhas IIRC.
-
The Assault Group TAG
-
I really liked the Germans Jim Bowen sculpted for Chiltern (now sold by SHQ) but they are too big to fit in with anything else, so I know I am in a minority.
-
I updated the list on page 1 - have I missed anybody?
-
A couple of corrections in 28mm
Empress - there are sadly no 28mm Empress ww2 Germans. They have a few 20mm German vehicle and artillery crew
Offensive - do a small but good range of Afrika Korps and Fallschirmjagers
Of all of these, I am struggling to find attractively modeled early war German infantry in a scale compatible with Perry or the Dutch from May 40. Artizan and Crusader are good but just too big. Any ideas?
-
Drop WArmodelling from your 20mm list. The original sculptor has retrieved his rights and now Capitan games are not allowed to trade that minis.
Look at Xan Miniatures (the original sculptor), he is going to do germans in a near future. Now it has AA crews and panzergrenadiers for sdkfz 251. Steel 72 is another option.

In 54mm there is also a lot of quality plastic producers, like TSSD (makes a load of plastic WW2 and other sets), Conte, CTS, and some others. All great stuff. There is also of course the 1/32 range of 21st Century Toys that made loads of pre-painted 1/32 AFVs and figures...sadly WalMart drove them into bankruptcy!
-
I just realised that Empress do have a very nice 28mm German Flak 88
It is NAT 3 here

Yes missed from the list IT miniatures WW2 ranges, now under the Frontline banner. I'm still sorting through the moulds and spinning of samples but the ones already posted on this forum are ready to go.
-
Australian company 'Wartime Miniatures' have a small range of 28mm Australians and Japanese (including SNLF) with some quite unique pieces.
I believe they also have a more extensive 20mm range although I do have any personal experience of them.
-
I have added Frontline to the list
Do Wartime Miniatures make Germans'

I have added Frontline to the list
Do Wartime Miniatures make Germans'
Doh! Sorry that's me not reading the original post properly.
Not in 28mm, they do in 20mm the though. Fallschirmjager, Panzer Lehr and Volkssturm
-
I can see that the Heer 46 line is missing from there (they were mentioned on the first page). They're actually released now instead of a crowd funding campaign.
Might be worth noting that the Heer 46 and CP Models are all wearing parkas (which is sort of unique among the lines).
-
I have added Heer 46 in its own section as most of the figures are 1/48
I also added notes to CP

Gorgon makes early war Gebirgsjager and Fallschirmjager

Are the Westwind separate head system WW2 figures still available? I was on their site and could find the heads but not the infantry packs.
-
Bizarrely they're not listed with the actual forces. Do a search for "squad" and the packs show up there...
-
War Time miniatures do a good line of Fallschirmjagers and Volksgrenadiers.
