Hi folks,
just returned from Hamburg, having visited the awesome Tactica convention once again after being foiled last year by a nasty virus and living in the UK next year. All in all, six hours of driving, but well worth it to meet a whole herd of nice folks, spend too much (although entirely within my budget) on resin scenery and some figures, and generally having a blast of a time. We demo´d "Triumph and Tragedy" with a Spanish Civil War "Junkers Down" scenario.
I only took a small number of pictures of my favourites since I´m convinced the organisers and other, more prolific photographers will soon publish more and better pictures of all the lovely tables.

as they say in Antwerp : joawadde.
Who was the lunatic genius that made this fine piece of scenery and is he for hire for the next 25 years?

Thanks for posting these pics.

Having attended myself I have to say it's the one convention you have to see if living between Kobenhavn and Frankfurt or even further
-
I wish I'd know about this when I lived in Kiel a couple of years back, now I have another reason I want to go back and live in Germany lol
-
Wow...

Thankyou for sharing your photos.
What scale was the WWII beach assault?
Chow,

From what I gathered, 15mm. I´m not a fan of that scale, but this display was positively stunning.

Yep. It fell under the FoW Madness :D or so I gathered in another forum

Helen,
the beach assault was D-Day Landing Sword Beach. Rapid Fire Szenario in 15 mm. The table was over 3 metres long and I think 1,5 metres deep. Green Knight from this forum did the game and he build the whole table.
Cheers

Rapid Fire Szenario in 15 mm.
My apologies. I got that one wrong. I stand corrected. It is still a stunning 15mm piece of work no matter if built for Rapid Fire or FoW

Hi,
Great trip! Fun meeting everyone once again.
Here is my some of the pictures I took from Tactica 2009 (http://picasaweb.google.fi/tunti.tommosille/HamburgerTactica2009?authkey=Gv1sRgCMC_8pe-kLCbdw&feat=directlink#). About 400 pictures to browse.
Though heavy flu and flying is not the experience I would like to repeat. Pressure was rather annoying and in the end my ears made knarling "glug glug" sound while lift off as the membrane couldn't handle it any more :)

Wonderful,
thank you very much :)
Hope you had a nice flight back and be here next year again !

Thanks Guys for the information.
Whilst I'm no fan of FOW or 15 mm, I do appreciate seeing quality when I see it. Good to read that a LAF member was behind all the hard work.
I hope you guys who were there enjoyed your convention.

Looking through Chris' photos, my reaction was 'holy crap, look at those boards! Wait a sec, i recognise those! Grimm's boards look even better!'
-
Wow, those were some stunning game tables.
-
Thanks for taking (and displaying) the pictures! Great stuff with lots of atmosphere. Being a visitor from the very beginning (and sadly never again since then), it's good to see how they've enhanced the Tactica even further over the years. Really hope to make it next year to Hamburg.

The tactica looked great!
thank you guys for sharing the pictures! :)
-
Very nice congratulations to all!
I wish I could be there!

Congratulations to you Tacticians for putting on such a tremendously beautiful show. There's such a high level of craftsmanship and art shown in those photos that it raises the spirits. It's not just Teutonic Efficiency, it's Teutonic Majesty as well.

I´ll relay the praise. Thank you very much.
I only hauled a lot of boxes and hosted some pirate games.
Btw: Grimm can read the praise himself ;)

Amazing games, terrain and miniatures!
Treemen... HA! :)
-
It was really a lot of fun. Well, actually there were so many great games and tables to watch that I couldn't decide which one to play and just stood there open mouthed guzzling beer (and spending a fortune on miniatures and the like)...
It's really worth visiting. So next year step by!
