OK, that is a pike block, no kidding.
-Michael
-
Yeah it's a pike block.
But individually based, imagine having to move it across the table... ;)
-
I just had a flashback to 3rd edition Warhammer and the REALLY sharp goblin spears I accidentally landed my hand on a few times! I still bare the scars to this day! ;)
BTW your avatar has the same look I think I had when I opened up your post and seen your pictures! lol
-
From one angle, it could be a hedgehog ;)
Impressive sight, wouldn't want to go up against it.
-
that is a hell of a pike block indeed :-*
-
Very nice. Shame about the odd overhand grip with the left hand that they modelled on some of the figures.
-
Lovely painting. It's a shame the pikes (and indeed all the other weapons) are so over-scale.
Looks like the men are wielding telegraph poles, and the muskets look like blunderbusses.
But that's GW for you - they always have huge weapons on their figures.
-
It doesn't seem worth being hung up on how the weapons look when these figures are quite the impressive project!
-
I agree it's an impressive spread of figures - well done. That's a lot of painting!
Also agree however that the pikes themselves look like telegraph poles. And with a strange thin bit at the bottom. All a bit peculiar. But then, to be fair, these are fantasy figures - albeit here playing a historical role :)
-
Thank you!
Regarding the "telegraph pikes". They are my own "fast" conversions, and considering the fact that I had to convert roughly two hundred GW spearmen into landsknecht pikemen (and not willing to spend half a year with a drill doing so) to make this project a reality, it was a price I decided I was willing to pay.
(It still took ages to complete the project though :))

That's a colourfull hedgehog!
Sweet stuff.
-
Wow - that's practically man-for-man !
-
Bravo!
Wonderful work. I’m pleased to resurrect this thread!

I like 'em big too. Though I like having more than one even more!

Spikey indeed - looks great all laid out on the table like that also like the conversion of the four chaps carrying the religious icon.
-
Amazing armies! :-*
Look fantastic on the table!
-
Looks impressive but must be a bear to move on the table, all individually based and all. Just out of curiosity, how long does it take to move eight inches on the table? Three days? A week? :)
