Title: Tupi and Botocudo references?

I was actually so inspired by the new article on using Congo! in the Amazon in Wargames Illustrated--and by Stone Cold Lead's amazingly painted Tupi--that I purchased all the Copplestone Amazon Indians. I've found some decent photos on the Internet and an old article on doing a Tupi army innWI, but rumor has it that Copplestone had an article on them at some point? Anyone have a copy?  Also are there any other good books or wargaming references with photos and background on these tribes? Thanks for the info.

John Hemming's  Red Gold, first of a trilogy on Brazil's indigenous peoples. The best work in English by a very long way.

You might want to check out two films, available with subtitles. Como Era Gostoso o Meu Francês and Hans Staden. Those should give you some gaming and painting inspiration.

Yup Red Gold is cracking also for the article it was from Ian Heaths book on south America.

The botocudo are also called the Aimore.

Eureka also produce Tupi and have a great range of Portuguese . A fantastic period. I have a collection of both and dabble now and again :D

Another one that can recommend 'Red Gold'. If you're going pulp then 'Lost City of Z' (made into a movie to be released this year that's got Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller so it has to be good) to get an idea of the jungles of Brazil.

Balagan is a great resource, for a multitude of periods too. I frequently have found myself finding little gems on his blog whether Napoleonic or Aztecs and Conquistadors :)

Yes,  iI find that he frequently quotes some knowlegeable folk. ;)
