Title: U Boats in Manhattan
Post by: gamer Mac on March 05, 2009, 08:30:37 AM
My brother ran his first pulp game last night.

The story
A nuclear scientist Dr K Boom has been kidnapped in New York. Three governments have sent their agents to investigate.
The British – 007 ½ and “P”
French – L Clair and Renée
American – Ethan Punt, Jason Unborn and Jack Bryan

Set up and start of the game. Not great photos sorry.

They are all down at the docks checking out a warehouse belong to Dr Boom. As the players approach the warehouse in the middle of a dark foggy night a group of German commandos busts out of the warehouse and a fight ensues.
The lower ranks of the Germans are quickly dispatched with the players only suffering a few wounds.
During the fight 007 ½ sneaks across the tied up boats at the dock side to get to the jetty, trying to cut off the Germans as they appear to be trying to go in this direction. As he approaches the jetty through the fog he discovers two German sailors guarding the end of the jetty. Using his silenced pistol he manages to shoot one in the head and kills him instantly. The other returns fire.
Meanwhile back at the ware house the fight is over with the German commander running off down the jetty towards a large dark shape at the end.
One of the Americans, Ethan Punt, has managed to find some clues as to what has happened to the Doctor but then he is gunned down by the fleeing Germans.
007 ½ decides discretion instead of valour and instead of taking on a U Boat full of Germans he goes to secure the clues, knocking the last remaining German into the water, in his rush.
The Germans escape on the U Boat.

U boat crew wave to the agents

Back at the warehouse one of the French players has started a car. 007 ½ offers to share the clues if the Frenchman will help him get away. Mercilessly the, but with typical French driving skill, Renee tries to run 007 ½ over. But only manages to run over the unconscious Ethan Punt and then run the car into the water.
Seeing that it is every man for himself, Jack Bryan guns down 007 ½ with a shotgun hit to the head.
The game ends with the American in possession of the clues.

Finial scene.

It was a good fun game with a lot of laughs.
The Clues lead to somewhere in Europe.
Hopefully the heroic 007 ½ with get revenge on the back stabbing French and Americans. (You may be able to tell from the story but I played 007 ½)

I love that dock board.

Very well done. And any time a car goes in the drink, it has to be a good game. :)

Except when it drives over my character!

Looks like a ton of fun!

What make & scale were the cars you used? They look like a nice match on the tabletop.

The U-boat was excellent. None of us realized that GMac had created it. You can imagine the surprise when it appeared out of the depths!

Fantastic Game.

Wow, those pictures could have been illustrations straight out of my last pulp RPG game I ran. The harbor patrol should really stop letting so many Nazi submarines into Hudson Bay.  :D
