Those are very impressive. They certainly give the impression of their real-world, full-scale counterparts.

These are scratch builds at approx 1/56 scale. A combination of thick white card, paper, styrene tubes, super glue, PVA, caviar beads and swearing.

I apply a lot of swearing but my results are a lot worse... ;)

I use caviar beads (used in the Nail Bar industry to decorate fingernails) stuck in place with PVA then when set a small touch of super glue to hold in place. I bought a pack of these beads off eBay for a couple of quid and there are thousands of them.
