Earlier this year I decided to embark on a foray into 28mm Napoloenics - now that I have actually got round to painting something I figured some of you might like to see this project unfold over the coming months. The journey will of course be tracked on my blog starting here with part 1

so here are some pics from the second post

Nice bit of forward planning. Great deal on the buildings by the way.
With ref to extra horses can you order the extra sprues for collection at Salute, if you are going, save the postage cost?
-
Great start. That town was an absolute bargain.

They are rather splendid looking. I like that battery too.

Pink seems to be the popular (and best) colour...
All the best. Aly

Your productivity never ceases to amaze me.

Agreed, and the quality too.
Not a fan of a Lightbox for your images? (Blogger dashboard then, 'Setting' / 'Posts, comments and sharing' / 'Showcase images with Lightbox' / 'Yes')

Thank you - one of my friends describes it as factory painting - for example I have over 288 french infantry to paint
last week I painted all the boots, trousers, jackets and backpacks in a couple of marathon sittings - buy the end of this week I should have finished all the flesh, shakoes and muskets. Once the basics are done I complete each regiment fiddly bits one regiment at a time.
by focussing on the same item (eg musket) with the same colour its amazing how quickly you can plough through the units. There is no shading and the dip followed by matt varnish really speeds things up.
-
Just added the latest unit to the blog - The Cuirassiers

I tried to do something similar with only 70 WWII Germans and it was painful so I commend your resolve.

Just going to echo the thoughts of the previous posts Giles, remarkably productive and great "stickabilaty" to each of your projects, great stuff. :)

In terms of figures - quite probably although the Zulu project would run it close I have just finished painting 12 Battalions of French Infantry - need to sort them out and get some photos done...
Only the french command, portuguese and some cavalry units to complete and then we can start playing :D
-
and the project rolls on....
12 Battalions of French Infantry complete !!

Simply lovely. :-* :-* :-*
-
Great work.
-
You really are going for it with this project Giles :o :D
-
Thanks guys - I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - I reckon by end of September all the units will be completed - over 700 foot and 180+ cavalry :D
-
Those Pork and Cheese troops look excellent.
-
Nice looking Portuguese you have there. Your turn around time is amazing.
Not sure Cacadores carried colours but rumacara would know more about that I think.
Tony.
-
Cacadores never carried colours in combat and only one regiment (if i´m not mistaken it was the 4th) received them in 1814 and only used in cerimonies. :)
Nevertheless they look great.
-
The front rank brigade pack that I ordered came with the standard bearers so I thought I may as well use them... :D
-
And you did well. I like it.
In terms of wargames i dont see why you cant use them unless you are a "historical fanatic". :D
And if someone says your Brown of the uniform isnt the correct one that is a lie. Burel or Saragoça was the materiel used for the uniform and it was and still is made by hand so a lot may be dark Brown and the next one could be medium Brown. ;)
-
and I have finally finished my British Cavalry - its all on the blog

Nice to see the French ordre mixte on table!

A hard won victory for the Brits! You're Spanish buildings turned out great, and a good looking table and armies as well.
