Title: No Go Zone
Post by: joroas on March 08, 2009, 12:55:28 AM
A new game, well worth a look for a modern police setting and with a decent collection of 28mm modern police and perps, by the makers of Hour of Glory:

Sounds interesting - I just have to see some presentation pics..  ;)

@ Argonor : just look on the right hand side where it says click for more info bud, there's pics of the minis there. they look okay to me but maybe a tiny bit smaller than i would have prefered. should paint up quite nicely tho.

Hadn't spotted that. If the moulded bases are 20 mm, I think the minis are nicely sized at 28 mm?

i was just gauging the average height of the minis, by holding up one of my minis to the computer screen alongside the pics as it says on the site that they are they shown full size, and some of them are noticeably smaller than my 28's, that's all  :)

Looks interesting.

I wrote a "back of a fag packet" set of rules for myself a while back, for a similar sort of game (after having played far too much Grand Theft Auto), so it will be good to see some more minis for this sort of "period".

 :)

Well, that depends on your screen solution, doesn't it?

Looking at the modelling hints section the figurers look 28mm hasslefree size ? on the game the board sections will come in handy and i like the hand signs instead of dice ....be careful who you play with though ????

Hi, these are the same scale as Hasslefree (in fact I used Hasslefree to check the sizes as I was sculpting them...)

The miniatures really remind me of the Cold Wars zombies.  I wonder if it is the same sculptor?  The bases are spot on for the older metal Cold Wars bases.  Can't wait to see a battle report and find out how the rules play.

Looks interesting.

Especially considering that you do actually see these things happening when you walk around the streets, so inspiration is easy.
Any chance of selling base packs seperately so we can use police and stuff from hasslefree and the like as well as the warmacre ones? :)

'Innit mate!

So Overlord has Geezers, for the elderly, I could do no go zone for the G's of Chavingdon Wargames Posse.
 lol

Bloody Chavs. >:(

The Boardgame Geek review and the background on the website make it sound very interesting. I'll be getting a rule book I think :)

the miniatures are available to buy now as packs of six. Please see them here: http://www.no-go-zone.com/shop/shop_main.html (http://www.no-go-zone.com/shop/shop_main.html)

well guys, I'm currently finishing of my mounted riot police before I watch 'Football Factory' a few more times and start on some football hooligans - should be a few chavs in there too!

G20 has been a great inspiration so we will have lots of revolting peasants (of a modern slant) too!

We want to wait a little while before we bring out the shooters, but let me say I have just brought some of the new H&K smgs that Hasslefree have just released... (and yes with permission, other sculptors can use their accessories)

Great modern police minis - there has long been a lack of these. Emergency services, and mounted riot police coming as well? Excellent. Will go well with my Doctor Who stuff.

Oh yeah I forgot to say how great it is to see normal modern civs and emergency crews with that batch. You need them for any thing and ever thing. Pulp, zombies, alians, riots, crime, demon invasion, civil war. The list go's on and on. :D

will there be a plan in the furter to mix and match groups or to do seprit single min orders?

Here's a WIP photo of the Mounted Police for our next installment of NGZ:

This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 1000x340 and weights 246KB.

There are still a few details to finish off (like hands, boots, radios etc) but this should give you an idea. Riders are designed to be wearing Hi-vis jackets as seen at football games, but you could paint them in the scary black as at G20. Please let me know what you all think!

Horses from Ebob, extras and riders by me

I'll get some pics of the other minis I'm working on added to the forum soon.

Went back to get the photo, but it's offline for testing.

Nice models! And as Max Brooks says horses are handy against zombies because they don't rely on fuel. In a direct battle it may be more difficult though 8)

I'm planning to make single miniature ordering available very soon for anyone that just wants the paramedics for example. This will also let you choose the bases you'd like for them (which is the bit slowing me down...) or not.

Looking good.
The perfectionist in me says that some of the proportions are a little off.

But the nice side of me says that these are too cool for it to be a problem!

Excellent stuff, I shall look forward to seeing them painted and eventually becoming part of my lead pile...  :D

The hands seem a bit blocky, especially on the model on the third picture, but it's a minor problem. Also, would these guys normally have shields or not?

I've given mine padded gloves, but yes, I might look at re-doing the hands.

They don't have shields which is a shame:

should be easy to make some shields,  or use the hasslefree arms, if us you the shield and baton or junkers shield from scotiagrendel.

going to get  some riot cops to go with the riotvan i downloaded  from your site.

They're definitely good minis. I'll be adding them to my list, though I'll need to make some accompanying zombiefied horsies too ;). Would you perchance be making the riot helmets available some point? Seeing as how they're metal and would be nice for conversions or sculpts, but if no then that's fine.

Ok....read Walking dead Trade One, You'll see how long a mounted cop stays mounted matey!

Poor pony :(

Liking this riot guys alot, if he can get the proportions right for the foot officers I've got a real chance of doing some prison guards a la Walking Dead: (Yes I know about Hasslefree riot guys, have them in my police, but not enough armour)
