And a rather nice Zulu hut :)

Love the frogged jackets. Is that guy second-from-the-right wearing glasses, or are his eyes just deeply sunk?
-

The officer in glasses is using a knobkerry as a walking stick :)
-
I WANT! Excellent work :-*

Knobkerry always makes me chuckle lol. Maybe something to do with my wife being called Kerry :).
Thanks for the comments I will ask the ladies at Empress if they don't mind me showing off what I have just been doing for them.

wow o_o this range just keeps getting better and better ive wanted to game this my, favourite period for years and never saw figures that would do it justice ...until now SUPERB keep it up.
-
I love the period but ... another project... yikes!
Truly well sculpted and inspired mini's.
The officer in the patrol jacket and sword is awesome.
-
Are this green sculpt referring to any particular incident? That’s a strange (but nice) mini :)

Thanks Paul,
You have really created an emotional scene here for Isandhlwana which is my guess. Lovely work Paul and one that I'm truly will be looking forward in entering sometime later this year. An adaption from Fripp's painting?
Contained within the print of Isandhlwana on my wall there is a lone sailor using his cutlass. Able Seaman Aynsley, now that would be super cool to see him as a miniature. This guy seems to be ignored in the story of the battle as the only sailor that was present and killed there.
I'm just reading Saul David book on "Zulu." I'm currently reading the chapter on the young Prince Louis Napoleon at the moment. I like this authors style and written expression.
My congrats to the ladies too for a fine project. 8)

From the defense of the hospital building, I would guess?

No hospital building at Isandlwana. No, he was the servant to the ADC to Lord Chelmsford, Lt Milne RN. So he was an unfortunate to be left behind at the camp when Chelmsford was off trying to find the Zulus with a sizable force.

Couldn't agree more.
I wonderful vignette. You have captured the look of horror and sadness on the drummer boys face. Outstanding figure.
This is going to be the best range of figures to cover the Zulu Wars without a doubt.
-
My will power has just crumbled.
I will start yet another project now, as I just can't pass up these figures.
Let me add my congratulations to Empress Miniatures and Mr. Hicks for this fine work.

Ah, I found the Fripp painting. Pretty cool. I'd assumed they were just some random patients from the hospital building at Rorke's Drift.

This green is marvellous.I love stuff like this.SOLD!
-
Superb sculpts as usual!!! Can I use them for the NW-Frontier, too? I have some Pathans on my workbench...

My thoughts exactly - although I intended to use Wargames Factory plastics - how can I pass up these? Simply awesome! Although there are not the right uniform for NWF, they're going to be good enough for me.
-
Yes you can use them for NWF you should add a little Green stuff around the foreign service helmet to make Pugree which was comman to units in India.
Also you might want to take a look these figures I did for Pontoonier at
http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=164133
Scroll down to the bottom some one has posted pictures of the figures. Very hard to get hold of but email Pontoonier or send me a mail and I will get Ben at Pontoonier to help you out,

Paul, thanks for the hint to Pontoonier miniatures, but unfortunately their website seems to be down. I've never heard of this manufacturer, surely a good sign of his marvelous marketing behaviour ... 8)
What I have seen on TMP, their Gurkhas are very nice and I would like to get some; any idea where to contact the company?
Thanks much!
-
I was about to comment on how nice those Pontoonier figs look, but then realised Paul did them, so duh!
Never heard of them before but I'd be interested in some too. Oh and Malamute, you may have just found that Ghurka unit you were after.
-
Thanks very much indeed Paul. It looks like Pontoonier will be represented at Cold Wars so I hope to have my mitts on some by Friday!

I think I will have to see if I can get hold of some. Ghurka's - you've got to love them :)

Hi Paul,
I've sent an e-mail to the company (from their construction website) hoping to hear from them as I've gaming friends in Canberra who regularly game the NWF etc.
Thanks Paul for the advice to the folks here.

I would also like some of these Pontooniers too so please keep us updated as to how you get on

I have sent a link to the thread to the owner of Pontooner and I'm sure he would like to see what gamers think of the figures. I believe he will be at the Con over the weekend so if you can say hello as Ben is possibly one of the nicest men in gaming.
