An HB is  your standard lead (graphite) pencil.  The sort of thing we were all required to use in prep school prior to being trusted with a pen. Middish grey in colour.

Rather than an average modeller like myself prognosticating on technique, try this article:

https://www.scalemodellingnow.com/weathering-paintchips-and-scuffs/2

For other applications like simulating aluminium (or whatever bizarre spelling and pronouncitaion you chaps use  :)) some prefer silver artists pencils. Similar technique.

https://jonbius.com/2018/09/26/paint-chipping-made-easy-prismacolor-pencils/comment-page-1/

Just for contrast you have the reidiculously over the top chipping methods so beloved of your Fantasy modellers.

That said the basic techniques are sound, just over applied.

Just started my free month of Hulu today to start watching.  Definitely enjoying this, and better than the original series.  I always thought Richard Chamberlain was fairly boring in the role of Anjin-san.  Cosmo Jarvis fills the role better.

The ancient Chivalry and Sorcery rules will permit this.

Great looking game -- I will be checking out your blog, too! I'm a big fan of blogs. If anyone wants to check out my Lead Legionaries blog, I update it 4-5 times a month (usually).

The HB pencil is a handy tool if you are looking at making scratch marks and nicks to paint.

What is this HB pencil...? Never heard of that. And I echo the thanks for tips on distressing die casts. I am an absolute newbie on that and appreciate all advice.

Sorry for the threadjacking, btw...  lol

I think Wargames Foundry’s “Street Violence” range might be of use to you?

I have quite a few from that range. One of my survivor gangs for post-apocalyptic games is entirely from there.

Foundry figures have a lot of character and always seem to paint up well, I feel...

I've never seen that in any of the craft stores around me. Thanks for the recommendation. I DO use the fancy scrapbook paper that Hobby Lobby and Michaels carry. One of them is corrugated brown. (https://www.hobbylobby.com/Scrapbook-Paper-Crafts/Paper-Cardstock/Specialty-Paper-Single-Sheets/Corrugated-Cardboard-Scrapbook-Paper---12-x-12/p/111173)

Are the ones you're getting off Amazon paper, also? Or are they plastic?
