Talavera 208 - Game Three
« on: 25 September 2017, 09:11:32 PM »
This weekend we played the third and final running of the Talavera-Afternoon Attack scenario using Carnage & Glory II.

In this final game the French sought to refine the tactics of the previous encounters with even more close in sustained artillery fire backed up with copious amounts of French infantry and cavalry.

This produced a really tense and exciting game that had a real twist right at the end.

Hi Driscoles,
Thank you. I really wanted to try and capture the look of this battle with reference to the Grand Manner style games of Peter Gilder, so glad you like it.

Cheers
JJ

Thanks Bjorn, that's really cool and great to hear. Keep on rocking with the Napoleonics.

Hi Miltiades, thank you. Well I will stay strictly neutral, but the French didn't have a great record against the British in the Napoleonic Wars and certainly against Wellesley and you could argue that our French commanders have done no worse than their historical precedents, so both sides came out winners.

Cheers

Great game and AAR as usual Jonathan.

@ miltiades the first time my club fought this battle in 28mm link using Black Powder the French won. Second time the allies played better.

Tony.

Yes you are right. I am sure your French commanders did their best. The French were always beaten  in Spain. I have played Talavera in the past using 20mm plastics and Volley& Bayonet rules. It was obvious from the beginning that the French had no chance. Besides this, I love to watch your pics and your wonderful figures

I saw the link. Fantastic wargame. Now this was asurprise to me to see the Allies beaten in Talavera. And I read the comments of the other wargamer  [using 15mm] saying that in hiw wargame the French won as well, so perhaps I was wrong. Thanks!
