I really like your style! I always struggle with blacks and dark greys but the coats on the bottom two look spot on.
Good job!

my own, which is why they're painted in that 'brusque' manner ;)

thanks :)
but I can't take much credit for them, I actually painted them too light and used GW Black Wash to darken them down, and as if by magic the coats ended up looking miles better.

Yeah, the GW black wash is fast becoming a favourite of mine. It makes highlighting black really easy, and gets rid of that "dusty" look you can sometimes get.

Works wonders on gunmetal too.  :)

Good for fast-painting African hair, I've found (say if you've a bunch of Zulus to do or something). Paint it dark Greyish-brown and give it a wash of the black. Voila, instant paint job without all that messing about highlighting individual hairs.

Great for a lazy-bones like me, and a not half-bad end result.

Nice work Red  :)

So "brusque" painting, is that a new french technique? ;)

Games workshop black wash is duly noted and added to the shopping list 8)
