Thank you for the kind comments chaps.

A good observation on the chin straps there Mr. F

For reference, the mark 2 helmet had the webbing straps and was issued mid 44 I am led to believe.

Thank you Sir. I've seen a few piccys of the Polish Paratroop Brigade with the webbing helmet straps at Arnhem. Guess they got an issue of Mk.II 'ats before Market-Garden? Certainly a lot more Paratroopers were wearing the Mk.II for 'Operation Varsity'.
I find with my little chaps, that a dark grey with a lighter highlight looks better than straight black.

There's a couple of great books written by 'Pegasus'. One being 'Thrills with the Paratroops'. He was a serving soldier in 1st. Airborne Division, who fought every engagement including Arnhem. He never got to write about that one, he was killed there.
I'll post a bit more about him, when I'm home.

Lovely, just lovely.

Best book about British (and Polish) Airborne uniforms I've ever encountered bar none is 'For King and Country: British Airborne Uniforms, Insignia & Equipment in World War Two', but I think it's out of print and a devil to get hold of without remortgaging.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.
