Difference between 28mm napoleonic manufacturers?
« on: 27 August 2018, 04:07:36 PM »
Hi guys, looking till get into napoleonics and I wonder if the different manufacturers can be combined in one army? Or are they too differential? The ones I'm choosing between now are Warlord, Victrix and Perry.

They’ll all work well enough together. I’ve had all three. I would generally use one manufacturer for a regiment though.

Victrix are lots of extra work to build, Warlord are ok, but my favourite  were Perry.

Sounds like you are looking exclusively at plastics?

Thanks guys! My local retailer mostly has plastic and my budget is low so plastic it is! :)

My choice is between either prussians (Perry or Warlord) or austrians (Perry or Victrix). Warlord is a lot cheaper, are the others that much better?

Might want to check the Warlord Summer Sale, some discounted napoleonic sprues think at least Russians, Prussians and Hannoverians at £1.00 per sprue.

Of the three Warlord are my least favourite. Which isn't to say they are bad. I do tend to wait till the sprue sales though.

Vitrix are full of options and more posable but do take more work. Nice figures though. My favourite are probably Perry. And there is a good range of metal figures that match for command options etc.

Okay, a word of advice, don't waste your time and money with any of the Warlord Nap plastics, as they aren't good at all. Often historically inaccurate and the sculpting leaves a lot to be desired (hands are often like hams!!!!!!!!!).

The Victrix figs offer more variety but they take a lot of work to whip into shape.

If your on a budget and want good figs then I would go with the Perry Nap range, as it is a good starting point and covers a lot of the main powers in plastic.

Have fun!

Of course, if you want the best detailed Nap figs, I would go with Avanpost!

Speaking of British Riflemen troops...the great thing about plastics is that doing conversions is not hard at all. Below are a combination of British Line and Rifle figs to create a more diverse lot of figures.
