Fascinating article on the founder of the LRDG
« on: October 10, 2018, 01:49:30 PM »
Interesting article on the Popular Science website about Ralph Bagnold, the founder of the LRDG.

Not only did he serve in two world wars, but his knowledge of sand and dunes was sought out by NASA during the early Mars missions, and there's now an area known as Bagnold Dunes on the planet o_o

There is a paperback called the men who made the SAS it's about the LRDG its founding and exploits. It goes into great spdetail about the members and founders.
Can't give you more details as I've lent it to a mate

A lot of interesting reading out there concerning Bagnold as well as the Royal Geographic Society.
Force20 actually has a Bagnold figure in one of their 20mm diorama pakcs (I think the pack called Explorers).
