Tipis and Indians
« on: 03 June 2009, 05:30:57 AM »
I finished up several Tipis, taking inspiration from these boards, and the corresponding Indians to inhabit the Tipis.

Figs are from Conquest Miniatures Comanche line:

And what are plains Indians without some Bison to hunt?

Cheers and thanks for looking!

Very nice. The tipis need a little more dirt - at the opening on top - from the fire.

I saw the Custers Last Stand TV movie last weekend. It definately gave me a final kick to start this topic too.

Iam tempted for years with Little Big Horn and the plains wars...

Great idea...another inspirational use of CD's for bases. They look great!! You probably need a bit of a soot-look near the top of the tipis due to the fire and smoke, otherwise...well done. Thanks for sharing.

Nice work. If you don't mind a little constructive criticism on the figures I think a thin yellow-brown wash will help pop out the details on the bone shirts.

That's a great idea, thank you.

As far as the soot comments go. . . do you guys mean make the front of the tipi look sooty up near the top?  It's not showing well in the pics, but I did paint the top flaps of the tipis gray and black to look sooty.

I spent a few days living in a tipi once. It was like the Tardis. Much bigger inside than you would expect. This one wasn't sooty around the top, but maybe they cleaned it regularly, I dunno.

They look great. The pictures actually remind me of old Blue Peter annuals (or some similar book) that had "how to make" articles in them. I remember one all about making "wigwams" (that's what we called tipis in those days, I don't know which is actually more correct), and yours very much remind me of those ones in that lost book from my childhood. Thanks for digging up the memories!  :)
